So, my client and a friend of his are having problems with the site I just designed for them. Basically, some images refuse to load for them. It only happens when they are on their laptops.
Now I'm a pretty seasoned web designer... there shouldn't be an issue. So please, go to this site, click around a bit and let me know if all of the images show up, and if there are any problems in your respective browsers.
Checked out the site and it seems fine on my FF; though if it's only a couple users on their laptops - I would wonder if they are using an older browser or maybe Netscape Navigator (I had heard that Netscape doesn't handle some CSS well).
Really though, what's going on? I mean, more than one person (two) at more than one geographic location and different net connections are having trouble with images not loading... any ideas?
Have you tried getting them to send you some screenshots of it not loading properly? perhaps there is something in common with an image name and some software on the lappy that's blocking it? who knows really.. more information would be key IMO.
None of the PNG's use transparency, and every browser will render them. Could that really be an issue? Besides, all the images are PNG, and only some aren't loading.

True. I'd give it a shot and get the people (that were reporting problems) to try it with (.jpg). It may not be the issue but I personally don't see anything else that could be it (looking through the HTML)
edit, this makes sense. The pages I listed in my first post that I said I was unable to see, all those link to pictures that start with the "www." and the ones my windows machine is able to load all start without "www."
www is technically a subdomain. so if your webserver is not set up correctly, the clients may be making requests to a non existant subdomain. the 'smarter' clients may be autocorrecting for the missing www.
they may also be timing out. recompressing as a jpg makes the image 22kb, vrs the 140kb for the png.
and really, you should be using relative paths for everything. using full urls leads to weird problems like this.

Could you change the extensions to the pictures to .jpg and see if that works?

my windows machine cannot load this image at this address
http://www.standupstix.com/images/fp_image.png
if I remove the "www." and simply try http://standupstix.com/images/fp_image.png it works on my windows machine

Same in Safari.
Could be something completely random?
