Well, I am looking for a gaming chair for a christmas gift for someone, preferably around the $50 range, any ideas?

What types of gaming chairs are available? Was looking at those ground rockers but seeing what else is available.

Any chair like this = comfortable.
I lay down in these, sit up, slouch, sit sideway, and so on. No matter what position your most comfortable with, youl'l probably find one here.

Those things are awesome. My wife got one of the full-size wicker ones a few years ago and it was always fought over as prime seating in the living room.

I actually ran 3 review articles on gaming chairs awhile back.

    Fatboy

    DSC00899.jpg

    LoveSac

    lovesac1035.jpg

    Sumo Omni

    dsc01163.jpg

They are abit more than your price range, but all 3 are the best gaming chairs I've ever owned.

So, here's a question; are there any good gaming chairs out there for those of us with bad knees?

All of those chairs look comfy, but with my knee it would be hell to get in AND out of them.

The nice video rockers they sometimes sell in furniture stores are extremely comfortable if you have to sit on the floor for long periods of time. They're very portable and they don't lose their padding with age.

I'd like to try out that huge moon chair though.

Those chairs in those pictures look extremely uncomfortable O_o. I need something with a little more support.

Very good and interesting reads Bamelin. Now, out of the three, which did you prefer? I see the Lovesac has different material then the other two, which are standard beanbags.

    A couple things ...

The Sumo and Fatboy probaly have the best back support of the three although I use a pillow with the Lovesac to give abit more oomf on my back. With standard beanbags you can basically squirm around until you mold the chair into a perfect position. With the LoveSac it is a "chair" sorta like a cross between a loveseat shaped like a traditional beanbag.

In terms of which chair I prefer, I think that the Sumo and Fatboy are probaly the most ideal gaming seats for long sessions, however be aware that you are constantly going to have to put in new fill (every six months or so).

The Lovesac is extremely comfortable and is a great TV/movie chair. The Lovesac feels abit more like a couch in some ways, it doesn't need to be refilled either. The largest advantage of a Lovesac is that you can put it in your main room without having your wife spaz out ... with the right cover it looks decent beside a couch.

The downside of the Lovesac is that it's expensive as hell, but I believe there are some holiday deals happening right now on their website.

Good info, thanks. I am looking at some of the "knock-offs" like Comfy Chairs and Foof Chairs. Any difference that you are aware of comparison to a lovesac?

If you are getting a Lovesac knock off buy THIS ONE

    Why?

Because it's not a knock off. Chill Sac is owned by the same people that own Lovesac, and is in fact made in the same factories. The bags are way cheaper (pricewise but not quality wise).

    Proof
Those affiliates include LoveSac of Nevada LLC, ChillSack LLC and LoveSac Franchising Inc.

I should probaly also add that LoveSac has since emerged from bankruptcy and seems to be doing ok now.

I have two Sumos but they don't get much use. I can attest to their quality however. The material isn't like your typical pleather beanbag chair. It a thick ripstop nylon which feels very sturdy. The foam beads they use of are a higher quality as well and have better longevity than the beads in those poopie beanbags.

Awesome. Yeah the price difference is amazing as those chill sacs are almost half the price of lovesacs yet owned by the same company.

Yeah the price difference is pretty substantial. The only difference (I think) is that you are paying for name brand when you buy the Lovesac.

I wish I had a chair like that for my PC. My PC chair is a piece of shit.

For Console gaming though I really like using gaming beanbags/sacs.

These looked cool for about a week, when they were getting hyped, but I haven't heard anything about them recently. I'm still kinda curious though.

I think those one's are really neat actually ... great if you have limited space (dorm room for example) but both PC and console gaming will be taking place. Not sure if the flat piece though would make a good Ottoman or not. For me having something to put my feet up on is an absolute requirement.

Picked this up at a garage sale for $30, owner said it was $80 but dont' know where
but it's the only chair of this shape I've been about to find without all those embedded
    built in speakers.
Very comfy for long hours of play.

I use it for both because any console I use is hooked up to my monitor. No teevee in this home.

Only the one I have is dark wood with a kind of natural coloured cushion. Ikea Poang.

Comfy as hell, and it's wide enough that you can slouch at weird angles. Relatively inexpensive, too.

I have two of these, bought the pair from target when they went on clearance before they became popular. The padding is absolute shit, I use pillows on them now, but they still work rather well, and i got both for $16.

I wasted money on my sumo. When they sent it to me they only filled it up half way with beads. To buy more would cost $50. The beads were still noisy and the back support was so-so. I got a regular leather chair for 10 bucks from someone who was graduating and moving and couldn't be happier.

PC Gamer just ran a review on the Trey Chair. Pretty nice fusion of standard desk chair and a rocker. The chair disconnects from the base giving you a rocker and a foot rest...or just a small table. You know, to keep that six-pack pack of Mountain Dew GameFuel on. They have a ton of pictures on the website that will probably make it more clear.

    35TR4853.jpg
    35TR4780.jpg

The guy who reviewed it claimed to be extremely lazy, and even he found it quick and easy to remove the chair from the base.

Pretty cool idea though, I'm thinking of picking one up myself.
