This game is freaking fantastic. It is taking a bit of a break from tradition and is being set, not in World War II, but in the present day. Crazy Russian nationalist wants to bring the Soviet Union back. He does this by funding a coup type activity in the Middle East.

The game looks fantastic, although you really have to see it in motion, check out the trailers here. However, as a result the system requirements are pretty steep.

So as you all know IW omitted select-fire from all the weapons in CoD4.

Well I was browsing the IW forum and I stumbled onto the Call of Duty 4 file page at firefront.com and lo and behold a script that allows the toggling of fire rates on all weapons. The script even seems to allow single fire mode on burst restricted weapon like the m16a4 (not going to link it).

The script itself is a very simple .cfg configuration text file (it consist of only 7 short lines of text and some comments) and needs executed in game or as the game starts.

I don't own the game myself yet (played the demo only), but do y'all think this gives players whom use the script an unfair advantage to be able to use select fire? PB nor the game itself catches the script on ranked servers as a cheat as of 1.1 as far as I know (don't know about 1.3+).

Should Infinity Ward just implement select-fire in a future patch (seems very simple to implement base off the script) or would this be considered to put havoc on the games weapon balance (server side option?) and so scripts should be prohibited from being used completely?

I want some opinions and ideas on this since the last thread surpassed the page limit and is starting to sink into the great abyss...

Man, thats what I love about this game. Nobody can come to an agreement on "the" weapon (aside from, maybe, the M16 :PPP)

what what WHAT?

The G36C's ironsights can work ridiculously well with the grenade launcher, and the good fire rate, combined with a red dot sight and stopping power can be a deadly combination.

The G36 is pretty ok, I use it on my BoomTube load out because it's got some solid Ironsights.
I personally hate the M4, such a weak gun compared to the AK or the M16.

So what are your guys favorite load outs so far? I know most of us have the standard Assault Rifle/C4/Stopping Power/Deep Impact, but how about the interesting stuff?

How about the Saw with Bandolier/Double Tap/Steady Aim?
The M16 with Double Tap is a beauty for taking out Juggernauts/Martyrdom whores.

Ya I never liked deep impact either, the only time i used it was when I was still getting those challenges where you have to shoot through stuff.

That p90 setup is the same one I use and I love it, and it sounds like the p90 is just gonna explode from firing so fast.

Why don't I see the Aimpoint as an optic on any of my assault rifle listings? Does it not pop up at all until you unlock it, or is it only available on certain weapons? Did I miss a memo about it not being in multiplayer?

'cause they did tweak the ACOG since beta, and I wanna see the Aimpoint on the M16, and see if it gets any better (I might just need to get used to the ACOG's tunnel vision again, and the winning could being).

I can't quite figure out killstreaks and multi-choppers.

You get 3 kills, UAV, 2 more Airstrike, 2 more Chopper. My problem is sometimes after that first chopper comes in as soon as I or my chopper get 3 kills I get UAV again and the cycle repeats. Other times, it just keeps racking up the kills and I have to die in order to start again. Then other times, if my chopper is still in the air and die I don't get my next UAV till it's gone.

Then today was even weirder, I got a UAV, killed a guy got another UAV, Killed a guy got an Airstrike, killed 2 guys got another Airstrike, got a chopper, killed 2 got another chopper.

It seems there is no rhyme or reason to getting multiple UAV's, etc. BTW I'm playing TDM on 360 if that matters.

I've been playing this on my friends 360, since mine is currently RROD'd. As such I've not completed it yet, I've just gotten to Chernobyl. So far my favourite moments have been:

Charlie Don't Surf

Putting 'Ride of the Valkyries' on the custom soundtrack during the initial helicopter assault while pointing out that this "Scares the Hell out of the gooks!"

Shock and Awe

Loved the entire thing really. Especially when the you have to go rescue the pilot of the other chopper that gets shot down. Felt just like being in Black Hawk Down.
Then of course the nuke goes off and I was just "Oh Shit!". I especially like how you don't die instantly, but actually control your character as he drags himself off your downed chopper before finally dying. It really added to the immersion of the moment.

Death from Above

There's something gloriously OTT about shooting a single enemy with a 105mm shell...
Only downer was that you can't damage the buildings.

Chernobyl

The whole thing really. The stealthy approach section was really tense, and quite spooky once you got into Chernobyl itself. Made me wish Stalker would run on my PC. Shooting down the attack helicopter by sniping the pilot after the hit was pretty cool as well, and evacuating MacMillan by carrying him through the streets was another Black Hawk Down-esque moment.
Holding off wave after wave of enemies at the end while waiting for extraction was another nerve-wracking sequence, and I was genuinely relieved once me and McAllister were safely onboard.

Overall I'm really enjoying the campaign, which is a bit unexpected since I don't normally like FPS's. Online is pretty cool as well, although I have to play on my friends account because I don't have a Gold account, and since he's level 20-something I'm a bit out of my depth.

You actually can damage the buildings, it's just not that noticeable. You look close enough and you'll see pieces of the buildings fly off spinning wildly

Of course this only happens if you use the biggest gun and fire on the smaller buildings, but yeah, it does happen

I cant really tell why I love, but im most comfortable with it. the AK47 had a learning curve for me, I had to get the feel for it and quickly get the red dot sight before I could rank high again. but the g36c has great control and I just own with it.

I kind of prefer the M4 to the G36C. Their statistics are pretty much equal, except the G36C has a fairly lower fire rate over the M4, and you can feel it.

What do you guys think of the SAW over the RPD? I've been using the RPD with the grip attachment, but damn do you run out of ammo quickly. I figured I'd use bandolier, but it really lowers the accuracy. The SAW, on the other hand, has high accuracy, but lower damage. So instead of the RPD with bandolier and slight of hand, I may try the SAW with bandolier and increased stopping power.

I'll use any gun, just to max it out and get all the XP for it. However, if our team is really behind, and I know I need to bring the pain, I will choose either the M16, G3, or AK47 depending on the map. It's mostly the G3, as that thing is a fucking sniper rifle. Uzi + Bandolier + slight of hand + Steady Aim is hilarious. Empty a mag, reload in 1 sec, then empty another one.

I finally figured out how to use the G3 more effectively. Initially just tried to pull the trigger as fast as I could. Am I crazy or it better to take slower and more purposeful shots? Maybe it seems obvious but it cost me a lot of frustration to figure out. So used to playing with the AK and Colt

The only gun I've enjoyed Double Tap with is the M16... makes that burst instantaneous, and absolutely deadly.

Also, I fucking hate the P90. I think I expressed that in the last thread as well, but with all the bitching people do about this gun, I thought it would be fuckawesome. Instead, I got it, tried it out, and I don't even want to try getting the 150 kills with it for the xp. I just don't care. And it's not a thing against SMGs, either... I love the MP5 and AK-74u.

My favorite weapon all depends on the map. On some of the smaller, "cozier" maps (Vacant, Crash), I like the W1200, with Stopping Power and Martyrdom. Long range maps (Strike) are more the M-16, Double Tap, and Steady Aim. The maps that are somewhere in the middle (Downpour), I'm all about the M249, Sleight of Hand, and Deep Impact. And the MP5 is just fun when I want to go be a bastard, run-and-gunning, with Stopping Power, and Extreme Conditioning. I usually use the 3x special grenades, because tossing flash/stun grenades around corners if you think someone might be there but aren't sure is always a good idea. You'll get the little X hit indicator, and you know to be all "SAFETY OFF MOTHERFUCKER" when you round the corner.

I hate sniper rifles. I think I have 9 total kills with them, only because they were nearby weapons when I ran out of ammo with my primary, and had to go "oh shit, I guess I use a Druganov now!"

Your streaks are probably timing out, so it resets.

On some maps, they can be tough to keep going, because the whole enemy team is down and spawning across the map.

Double tap on the P90 seems a bit excessive.
