Okay, I need help with something and then feel free to branch this off into other DS topics.
With CompUSA shutting down I'm going to go ahead and use my Replacement Plan that I played for while I still can.
Reason: Hinge Crack.
However, I'm not opening the box until I have new screen protectors. So, I'm looking as to where I can find the Hori-branded screen protectors for the best price. I previously bought them at a shop called Rhino Games, and they're actually no longer in business either.

Do you have a Fry's in your area? That's where I got mine.
I got mine from Amazon.com because it's hard to justify going out of my way to get screen protectors for what amounts to a few extra dollars in savings.
Also, are games like New Super Mario Brothers and Pokemon ever going to drop in price, or can I assume that being the most popular titles on the system allows them to stay full price up until the system's dying day, or at least until sequels manifest?

I believe you'll only see those drop in price if Nintendo ever implements a "Players Choice" line for the DS.
Keep in mind this didn't happen for the GBA until it's last year of life, so don't hold your breath for at least another year or two.
I'm finally getting around to buying a DS this Friday(yeah, yeah, yeah, WAY late here,) and I was just wondering how many recommendations people can throw in my face.
Shortlist is:
Mario Kart DS
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Phantom Hourglass
NSMB
Phoenix Wright?
The FF redos.
Pokemon maaybe.

Importing Ouenden 2 might make you a happier person if you already own and beat EBA and crave more, despite the unfamiliar moon language songs.
I don't think anyone mentioned Contra 4. So yeah. Contra 4. Also, I heard there's this really awesome DS game called Contra 4. Maybe you should consider picking that up.
I'd like to take this opportunity to mirror Slash000's list, as that is almost my entire library right there.
Also, do we have a friend code list thread around here? I'd like to play some Worms against people, but don't really feel like pressing that conveniently placed search button.
Edit: how is COD4 DS? I have no real interest in picking it up for PC because TF2 is probably the best game there is, so I may get it for DS.

I've played them both. EBA doesn't have the greatest sound track, but I've never been a big fan of jpop (which is why I like EBA more). That said, despite my musical preferences, Ouenden 1/2 are both great.
Call of Duty 4 is the second best FPS on the DS. It controls just as well, and arguably better, than Prime Hunters. The pace of the game, unlike Prime Hunters, is a little slower, so you're less inclined to get Hunter's Claw. It has FPS sections, cool weapons, and a variety of levels taking place in different locales. It also has 'on rails' sections where you're the gunner in a chopper flying over a city, or behind the HUD dropping bombs/heavy fire as you provide air cover for a team on the ground, from an AC130 bomber circling the city at night (with night vision). The game runs smoothly and has reasonably good graphics.
It's not perfect; it has some flaws in the AI being rather dumb, although strategically placed. It's shorter than a typical big huge FPS, but this is a portable game after all. It lacks online multi, but has multicard DS local multi (haven't tried it).
Overall, I'd recommend it for someone looking for another FPS that has PC-like FPS controls for the DS.
Actually, how about DS accessories in general? I just picked up a DS as well, and I already have games for it. What I need is help with extras. Anyone have suggestions for a good "sock" for the DS? I'm also looking for a good replacement stylus. I'm having trouble finding a extendable black stylus that fits in stylus holder.
I personally use a small 35mm camera carrying case for my DS, for small trips; the big pouch is a perfect, padded fit for the DS unit, and the front pouch fits the charger and several games (in their own tiny plastic cases), as well as earbud headphones.
My brother has a nice thick, padded sleeve that he slides his DS into. Doesn't carry games though. There are also a lot of 'folio' cases which are small and protective, and probably hold a couple of games.
So if I'm interested in a DS Castlevania title should I pick up Dawn of Sorrow or Path of Radiance first? I'm leaning towards DoS, but I'd like some input.

If you've played and beaten Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow. If not, Portrait of Ruin.

Pick up Dawn of Sorrow first. It's also a good recommendation to get the GBA game Aria of Sorrow, as Dawn of Sorrow is the direct sequel to Aria.
Get Portrait of Ruin after getting Dawn of Sorrow.
My question is why is everyone so set on screen protectors? What the hell do you do to your DS that warrants needing them? I've had a DS for over a year now and use it daily and the bottom screen looks like its brand new. Never used a screen protector. I guess I can see if you're sharing it with a 6 year old but c'mon if you're a grown person learn to treat your electronics like the semi-expensive devices they are :P

Ever play Trauma Center? Ever play.. The X Missions in Trauma Center? How about the Cheer Leader mode in EBA?
Honestly, my opinion is that I'd rather be safe than sorry. Would I scratch my screen with extensive use? Maybe, maybe not. It's that 'maybe' that I'm guarding against. I don't feel like i lose anything with a screen protector. Well, besides like 5 bucks.
B < PL.
The burden is less than the worst loss multiplied by the probability of that loss.
If I scratch my bottom screen through normal use while playing games like Trauma Center and EBA within my warranty, can I get my DS replaced per the conditions of my warranty?

the PA DS wiki is severely outdated and way unbalanced in its recommendations.. what's there is good, but it's really lacking. For example, total lack of Contra 4.
(..runs to go edit in Contra 4..)
Edit: just added a bunch of stuff to the DS wiki page. But they're all great games, and only have my rec right now. So add your recs people!

Simply, no. Nintendo states quite clearly that the DS screen may scratch, even under ideal conditions. They give recommendations for how to keep it as scratch free as possible.
I mean really, the argument you are making is the same as buying an iPod with a shiny chrome back, not putting it in a case, then bitching because it scratches. It's called "protecting your investment"
They have a New York Times Crossword game that uses letter recognition by writing in a little box. Long story short, the aforementioned area is nice and scratchy now. I'll probably buy a replacement screen when it becomes too annoying.
Oh, and that Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time game can kiss my ass. It has a in-game clock that shows your playtime, so I thought I'd just smash A and burn through all of the tutorials. 35 minutes later (no shit) and I'm still being taught how to play this stupid fucking game. I don't care if the rest of the game is blowjobs and lollypops, I won't ever touch it again.
Okay, so Contra 4 is definitely added to that list...
I would get Elite Beat Agents, but I'm positively hopeless at rhythm games, so it's not even close to being on a shortlist.
Well... at least I won't run out of games to get anytime soon.
Woo!
EBA is pretty easy as far as rhythm games go, until you hit the highest two difficulties -- and even then it's not insurmountably difficult unless you're going for massive scores. I wouldn't write it off so soon, the presentation of the game is impeccable and infectuously fun.

You make a compelling argument. Since I do WANT to get it, it's going to end up in my hands at some point, and I'm going to say 'well, it can't be that bad.'
Then, like in every other rhythm game out there, I'll choke on the first song.
I never used screen protectors, and my original ds phat survived with only minimal marks - even after Trauma Center, Ouendan/EBA, Meteos, etc. They're really only necessary if you find yourself awake at night, worrying about screen scratches. They provide peace of mind, and that's it.
I'm thinking of going and picking up Orcs and Elves tomorrow, because of it's delicious $20 price tag and its delectable first-person dungeon crawling.
Mustachio Jones: Have you bought Etrian Odyssey? Buy Etrian Odyssey. Etrian Odyssey is first person dungeon crawling nirvana. If you have not bought Etrian Odyssey, go buy Etrian Odyssey.

I'm starting to sound like a viral. That's probably not good.

Kind of like how Nintendo finally dropped the price to Mario Bros. 2, a GBA launch game, to $20 once the DS finally took off.
