Can anyone recommend a good Audio CD ripping software? I used to use CDex all the time, but the program now takes forever and a half to rip a song, and many of my songs skip. They play just fine on my CD-ROM.
I prefer one that I don't have to type in the name of the song and stuff.
MUST convert to .mp3 files. The .wma files are terrible to me, and I refuse to use them. Thanks in advance!
Odd that CDEX is having difficulty ripping songs... are you using the latest version?
At any rate, WMP also has the ability to rip to MP3s as well, you can just change the codec it uses by going to tools-options- rip music and select MP3 there.
Exact Audio Copy in combination with LAME. Guaranteed to make skipless tracks and the best quality MP3s - if you configure it right. Google for how to guides. Just don't expect an Apple style pretty interface. This combo is just good at what it does.
Acolyte57 on
101 little bugs in the file / 101 little bugs / take one out and recompile / 102 little bugs in the file
Exact Audio Copy is awesome, thanks for the suggestion Acolyte57. Crisp sounds, and no skips.
Though it does seem like my CD-ROM is going out. While listening to the CD after I ripped it, it started skipping. So it may not be CDex's fault after all. But since EAC goes back and re-rips it if it's bad, I don't have to worry about it now.
snarks - I do have the latest version. The older version I used to use takes forever and a half for me to rip a CD. It just started screwing up too.
