So I'm looking for a nice organizational tool that I can work right into my desktop background in Windows XP.

Functions I'm looking for:

To-do list
Calendar that functions in tandem with the to-do list.
Stuff that looks cool.
Mayhaps a nice IM client? I'm using Pidgin right now, which is pretty great anyway.

Pidgin is pretty much the best of the best as far as IM clients go. You might consider Miranda IM if you realllllllly want to customize shit.

I would honestly suggest Google homepage for your other requests.

Seconded, but only if you *really* want to have the IM client embedded on your desktop. Use the nicer clist plugin. Of course, you might really like how lightweight Miranda is anyway, but I find Pidgin more pleasant to use.
