PSP store registration woes (fixed)

So, I'm trying to register for the PSP/Playstation PC store.

They need my PSP serial and model number. I check under the battery, where these things are located, and put them in. However, the serial number doesn't match the model type listed there (or apparently any model).

So, basically, can anyone confirm if there is a standard model for serial numbers, like XXX YYY YYY, with x's being letters and y's being numbers on the PSP? (that's the layout of my supposed serial number - upper or lower case gives me the same error.)

It's a new-ish PSP slim, bought as new at an EB games, but I'm not sure whether they'd ever consider replacing it for something like that. I'm probably boned if I can't somehow get it to work, which seems unlikely.

Hmm, that's not how my serial number looks. I have a PSP Slim with me and a PSP original at home I can check later. The PSP Slim's serial has nine characters but it's two letters followed by seven digits, so LL####### where L is a letter and # is a number. The model would be PSP-2001 or whatever yours is.

The really odd thing is, the third of my letters is probably a zero (or, given what you're telling me, there's nothing probably about it), but that's not my problem. I seem to have all 9 units there, 2 letters, 7 numbers, but it just won't work, regardless of whether I input it as o, zero, with or without caps, etc.

I guess I'll try my luck with their tech support..

    EDIT:

Mine is a 2004, and I just got it working with one of the special coloured 1004 models. So, yeah.

    Thanks for the help, though.

Sorry, I know you fixed it, but I'm confused by what you mean? It's a 2004? You mean you bought it in 2004? How'd you fix it exactly?

Sorry, that was unclear. The model number is a 2004, which I think is the standard slim. They need your serial number to match up to the specific model number (of which there are quite a few, given the various promos and colours out there.)

I couldn't get mine to match up to any of the newer models, until I just randomly tried a 1004 model of a specific colour (I think 1004's are original PSP's, since 2004's are slim models).

    That's interesting. I purchased my PSP like...5 or 6 weeks ago...the Piano Black (non-bundle) and it's a PSP-2001.

    Ah well, no big deal.
