Console shooters aren't that bad compared to PC ones. Sure, you lose a bit of aiming control, but its nothing you can't compensate for with a few hours of getting used to the game.

You'll get a prettier-looking game on an upgraded PC than you will on the 360.

This game is flying pretty under the radar compared to Fable II and Fallout 3. Fable II is going to be really short guys, and I fear Fallout is going to have the same crappy AI and same dead world as Oblivion. So if you can only pick one game, pick this. Watch some videos, look at how good the AI is, look at the choices in the missions. I'm telling you, this might be better then even Crysis.
Speaking of, was there ever any kind of confirmation that Crysis would be making its way over the console?

(I'm absolutely ecstatic that Far Cry 2 will be coming out multiplatform, by the time I had upgraded my PC for the first one the game was kinda dated and rough around the edges. That won't be happening again!:P)

I just went into my local EB store (I live in Australia, just so you know), looked at the pc coming soon section and saw the price of the game. 200 fucking dollars D:! Now, I know games are more expensive in Aus due to the 'having the better beaches' tax, with an average PC game being between $90-100, but seriously, that is INSANE. It was looking like such a good game, but how on earth do they expect to sell games at that price? Has anyone found out the price in the US, or UK?

In the US it's the usual $60 for consoles and $50 for PC.

I went into some different EB stores today. One of them had TBA written over the $199.99 prices, and the other had some with the $199.99 scribbled over with black marker (but still slightly visible) and others with the price as $90, which is cheaper than crysis is currently. o_O
I checked the price tag on the 200 and 90 dollar versions, and they were exactly the same, except for the price, so I hadn't read the special edition by mistake. So maybe it was just a screw-up by eb.

UK will be around.. £40 I'd guess. Probably find it £35 in most places online.

Its simply a printing thing they do with "Coming Soon" games for whatever strange reason. I remember seeing GH3 in this section at EB games for $500 once. Don't worry about it :) I'd imagine the retail will be AU$100-110

Nope, the only news that wasn't complete fabrication was that they supposedly showed a version of the engine working on PS360. It's really unlikely that crysis itself would come over because of RAM alone, not even mentioning the other constraints.

I think I'm going to pick Warren as my first time character.

American, couldn't make it in the armed services or police, but still shows up in mother frakking Africa to kick ass and maim arms dealers with a bandanna and a motorcycle shirt.

    America, **** YEAH!

You gotta have some kind of balls, or some kind of stupid to try to pull that off.

    It's gonna be great. :winky:

They were up on one of the Far Cry 2 fansites, but they've been taken down for legal reasons. You can probably still find them through certain forums.

    Edit: Ah, here they are:

All 9 are playable characters. But the 8 you DIDN'T choose turn into AI partners once you get in the game.

Partners who can permanently die if you let them.

Here's hoping the AI doesn't suck.

The 94% PC Gamer UK review said quite enthusiastically that buddies were great. They *will* save your ass if you screw up and will cover you on certain missions and if they die on your watch, they won't come back.

first person shooters just can't have a woman as the main character. its unladylike.

unless they're covered head to toe in armor and you can only find out their gender while google image searching them

I'm assuming you can't play as the girls because then they would have to make twice as many self-surgery animations?

wait refute isnt used like that is it.

anyways, with the animations, thats generally done through skeletal models with a 3D model overlaid on top of it. or something along those lines. so really, it could easily be done with female arms or whatever.

Male ones and then female ones? Or at least two more sets, if they did specific ones for each character (which I doubt... but that sure would be neat).

I mean it would be odd if you were playing as Michelle or whoever and then you reached down with your hairy man-hands and pulled shrapnel from your beefy man-thigh...

anyways, three or so shooters aside, there's certainly a habit of male only roles for fps protagonists. its not like I'm a campaigner for gender equality or I want to see sexy female arms, I'd just like to see something different is all. the huff n gruff marine with balls of steel gets kind of boring after the millionth time, ya know?

then you get into third person shooters and not surprisingly enough, the female to male ratio gets closer to even. I attribute this to actually being able to see their asses in tight fitting clothes. also third person shooters I find tend to be a lot more story driven, you know, I guess. but mostly asses.

I could have sworn I heard that there were originally 12 characters, three of which were women, and it was cut down to 9 as playable, removing all the women. I'd love for this to not be true though, since i'm tired of games that give you a choice of character types limiting that choice to just guys within all the choice. I hope we find out soon.

yeah but if there are like 12 different types of men and respective beefy manhands it's not much more work to model some dainty flower picking nail polished female arms and a pair of tits

Every character isn't animated individually; they're all assigned to a generic skeleton, which itself is animated. Females could have the same self-surgery animations as men, unless the mean reach through a portion of space that would contain breasts on a woman.
