Headlining act is a band called Cowboy Mouth. They're a country-ish rock band that saw a little bit of radio success back in the 90s, but their main draw is that they put on an amazing, damn near religious experience of a live show. The lead singer is also the drummer, and manages to have more intensity and charisma behind a drum kit than 95% of the front men I've ever seen.
There's a small taste of this intensity in
this YouTube clip, but it can never do the real thing justice, as it is just a YouTube clip.
Opening up for them is the also-rad Bourbon County. Another country-ish rock group, but a bit more high octane. The guitarist is fucking insane - the dude was a touring guitar player with the Allman Brothers, when he was
seventeen. Some of their tunes can be heard on
their MySpace page. My personal favorite is "Before I Knew It, the Beer Made Do It." Also, my roommate is the singer.
May not be everyone's cup of tea, but for anybody interested, the show is basically guaranteed to be an excellent time. It's this Thursday, the 13th, at The Roxy. 8 p.m. would be a good time to show up, I'm thinking.

i now have two new things to listen to
That same show, Doug Kershaw got up and jammed as well. It was pretty dope. Which led to Doug Kershaw providing some guest fiddling for a track on Shooter's new record, on "Big Wheel."
I shot some footage from that show. Gotta figure out where I put it.
yeah i watched that video, i have shooter jennings' new album, it's different from his other stuff, but i like it on the whole.
I have never in my life seen so many cop cars outside a club as after that concert. There were, like, eight black and whites. And outside a place that could hold, at most, four hundred people. But fights kept breaking out between drunk country fans and drunk punk fans. Seeing a guy in a cowboy hats and ostrich skin boots kicking the shit out of a guy with liberty spikes was just magical.
I won't be able to drink at it, which blows to a ridiculous degree, but it should still be a great time.
Man up and come see an awesome show
And then have adult relations with my girlfriend.
And talk to some Austrians or something.
I have obligations, man.
Except for the sex thing, I guess.
So bring her along, kill two birds with one stone.
