Green Lantern #25.
So many kinds of awesome, it's hard to pick out the best part. I'm going to go with
Guy, doing it Red Dawn-style.

Everything. It was fantastic, page after page. The introduction of the other Lanterns, the battle with the Anti-Monitor, the creation of Hope, Black Hand rising...everything.

    Salvation Run
Psimon bites it in a way I could only dream of until now.

Hellhounds "rescue"...out of nowhere yet, satisfying

Karnevil and Joker's dialogue. "Many have tried. None have succeeded. Why don't you clear up your acne first?"

    Green Arrow / Black Canary

Cliff Chiang's artwork is fucking gorgeous. Needs to bring back the hat goddamnit.

Also was it just me or did New Avengers this week kind of....suck? I really get the feeling that Bendis is spinning his wheels on this book waiting for Secret Invasion to start. I think the whole Skrull thing was revealed way too soon, and then more or less dropped (I know about "Black Skrull"). It just seems to me like they have these two HUGE reveals, sort of explore them a little bit and then they are gone.

I don't want to read about The Hood. He's cool and all, but his whole organization is WAY too big, with too many unrecognizable characters.

I'd say that on the whole the issue was just damn confusing. I had no idea what was happening, besides a fight. There didn't seem to be any stakes attached to it. Like at the end Spidey says that they won by the skin of their teeth, but it really doesn't look like that at all. Similarly we are shown really early in the fight that the other heroes are just illusions, and yet aside from those two pannels everyone, the bad guys at least, seem to treat them like they are real.

That's not a dig at DC either, it sounds so awesome that I'm disappointed it's going down in 2009. That's like forever to me.

The Hood's omnipotence is really starting to irritate me. His powers were previously defined, and unless he actually is possessed, he's doing things he shouldn't be able to do.
    A SHIELD Helicarrier? By himself?

The helicarrier I can believe. He didn't kill an entire helicarrier, he busted one person out by sneaking in. He has more experience now, so that's believable. Although he has to have some sort of fucking superguns if he can just shoot through the manacles that were on the Wrecker like that.

Theres somthing about the Hood's organization that I just fundamentally do not like. Like don't get me wrong I'm happy that the Marvel Heroes are finally fighting against true villans again. But there are just too many of them to keep them straight. Like I don't know what any of them can do, hell even the ones I know (Read: The Hood) I have no idea what the hell they can do. From what I have seen all they do is beat the holy hell out of each other.

Also in DC there were two, what I sort of felt like were HUGE reveals in showing that Athena was really that fat-old woman, and then the three people behind fucking with the Time Stream in Booster Gold. But I have no idea for the life of me who the fuck those people were. Can someone enlighten me?

That's not the real Athena. She is currently being impersonated by Granny Goodness.

The three behind the time fuckery would be Ultra Humanite, Per Degaton, and Despero

Final Crisis is coming up in 08, isn't it?
I'm digging Green Lantern, but am I going to have to read all the Final Crisis stuff, or just the parts that tie in to GL? I really don't want to have to read all of Final Crisis, as I won't understand what the hell is going on.

Well, the "Final Crisis stuff" for the Green Lantern side of things is happening in Green Lantern, so thats all you'd need to buy.

And DharmaBum, it would probably be easier to just look them up on Wiki.

Despero, Humanite, and Per Degaton were behind the Amazo/Grundy attack in JLA, right? I know they were in like, one panel of JLA a while ago, but I forgot what it was about

Also, Jurgens drew civilian Jaime totally fucking wrong in Booster Gold. He looked like he was 40-something

I actually kind of like that KRAK panel.

    Who was the artist, anyway?

It seems like they picked someone who does abstract stuff, and told him to shut the fuck up and draw like a normal person.
