I'm sure you'll all agree with me that more JRPGs won't hurt the Wii at all, so this is nice.
It's being co-develpped fro the PS2, so graphics might not be much to shout about, but I'm liking the aesthetics. Post-apocalyptic setting's not new, but not unwelcome.

Preorder now so you can sell it for $100 in two years!
it's just a port, right? like the game was already made and released in japan and now they're bringing it here?
at least that's the impression I got. I just wish it were built from the ground up for the wii since that's what i'd buy it on (if I ever bought it, that is)
seriously im worried. these are truly the end of days. duke nukem forever is coming out, and the best nintendo ds game on the horizon is a sonic the hedgehog rpg by bioware.
I've been looking forward to this game for a while so it's great to see it finally get officially announced. The artwork in the trailer rocks beyond belief. And hey, I didn't even know a Wii version of this game existed so that makes the whole thing even cooler.
I'm just gonna repost what I said on other forums. It's nice to see Baroque getting revisited, and translated, but the original is just not a good game. It's interesting, but it's basically bad game in the same way King's Field was. And the King's Field games were better.
I picked this up along with Black/Matrix from Babbages around 10 years ago, when they had a big display of Saturn import titles.
Game sucked then. Dunno how it's gonna do well now. Doesn't really seem like the main flaws in the game were addressed.
The original Saturn game was a randomly generated dungeon crawler/Rogue-like. It was really slow, and hard to avoid attacks. It was mainly a challenge to see if you could actually get to the next point in the game, since every level you were reverted back to being naked.
I would imagine it's being remade because some of the characters are really cool, and it has a decent premise. Though I hear the PS2 remake doesn't look much better than the original, and that the characters control like those in Phantasy Star Online.
But really, Sting has started a habit of reworking things. Riviera was remade at least twice, Yggdra once, and there is a shmup, typing of the dead, and Radical Dreamers style game all based on Baroque.
Black/Matrix, on the other hand, was great. Too pad Atlus didn't pick it up instead.

I thought the same thing.

But it doesn't look like it.
Nah.
I think Sting was going for a SMT/Silent Hill vibe, though.
