Xbox 360 won't detect ipod

Just bought a 360, and updated my 5th Gen Ipod video in Itunes. I thought I'd try it in my 360, after hearing it plays mp3 files from ipods, but it doesn't detect it. The "do not remove" symbol is on the ipod, but the 360 doesn't detect any portable devices. I have downloaded the latest dash update too. Any ideas?

It's not showing up in the Media blade at all? It probably won't show up explicitly as iPod, although I haven't tried mine since the update.

It'll probably show up as "Portable Storage" or something like that.

Do not feel trapped by the need to achieve anything, this way you achieve everything.

Oh, hey I'm making a game! Check it out: Dr. Weirdo!

It doesn't show up all. In the media blade, portable device is frozen over. I can only select computer and hard drive.

apple must have fucked something up in the latest update...

I restored mine just then, and it works now. It seems like it was the update.

Isn't there an iPod compatibility update you need to download first?

That update just adds playback ability for unprotected AAC files.

The first Ipod update I ever downloaded was to accept the Ipod in general... or at least so it seemed from the download text.

I just had to restore my Ipod. I also downloaded the "optional media update"
