The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It's like Starcraft, but everything you accomplish doesn't go away when the battle is over.
So what does it have?
Spawn camping!
Lasers!
The goal of the game is to get your units to the battlefront, try not to die long enough to secure a map, then move on. Even if your units get clobbered, they gain XP for trying (unless they die too quickly). As your units and charachter gain levels, you will have access to better equipment, and unit upgrades.
There are two planets:
Relic is a reasonably balanced place thanks to a level cap. Even a beginner can come in to a battle and do some good.
Morgana Prime is the wacky PvP planet. Levels go up to 60, and you probably won't have much fun here unless you are in to masochism.
Oh god. I loved SG back in the day. I'd roll around with a squad of I think they were called Javelin infantry, cloaked and shit and I'd sneak up on archers getting their ICBM's ready and grenade them and laugh like a crazy person playing a korean mmo rts.
I used to love SG. I was probably the only fucking person that ran Liches on the first planet, so when you'd get the usual endgame nuke people would be all "What the hell is that bubble?" when the old players rushed their Quorgs. I fucking loved hearing the noise it would make when the nukes bounced.
Arbalests, Shades (with missiles, not guns - blech), and Albatroses are the best. I don't "mine" with Albatroses so much as I make air unit operators freak out.
I can usually take out a few air squads before dying to my own mines. They never see it coming, and they never learn.
Edit: Basically I only play units with high explosive, and I'm not afraid to go to great lengths to use them. If you see any units with RoboBandit in the name, and you aren't on my team, make sure you have plenty of HP on your units.
Usually for the last unit I'd mess around with stuff, like making a Jammer + Manta unit to fuck over nukers, sometimes a nuke unit, sometimes Pigs (usually not), Fire Imps, that kind of stuff. Usually it was a unit that I'd only pull out if I was pretty sure we were gonna win. Most of the time I just used Oizys, though. They're a wonderful "Oh, I have 6 minutes left what can I throw out there to die quickly that will still do something?" unit. You can pretty easily hose arbs, sappers, liches, specs, ghasts and a bunch of other stuff, and they're great just to throw at mines so you can pig later.

Forgot to mention 4 branches you can level in any order, free play + pay to play, and infantry with flamethrowers torching tanks
XLive: Oronis
Nope. You can pay money and get some benefits, but the caps and limits from having a free account make the game a little more challenging.
Good times.
