BIN files

Hey H/A, I came here to ask a computer related question because frankly, I am fucking terrible with just about anything having to do with computers.

Anyway, I downloaded the 7-day trial version of The Lord of the Rings Online, but when I try to open the files, they won't open. It says: "Windows cannot open this file: lotrosetup-1.bin. To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer."

Then it gives me the options of using a web service to find the appropriate program or selecting the program from a list.

I think the problem has something to do with the file being a .bin file, but I'm not sure.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

where'd you get the files, because on the LotRO site it looks like an executable (exe) installer download.

First I had to download the downloader from the site, and then the game downloaded.

Maybe the downloader is supposed to extract the bin files?

Bin files are images are they not?

If I'm right you can use something like Daemon tools which is a virtual drive. Basically it opens the image file and windows treats it like its another drive - it will show up in my computer.

A .bin file can be a disc image, but more often than not it's just a binary data file. There is no universal app for opening a .bin.

    Is there a Linux client?
Often Linux executables are .bin extensions.

This is what I recall it doing, assuming it is still working the same way it was during beta.
