So Kotaku posted a gameplay video today from the Korean beta.
I'm abit dissapointed. I was hoping to see the spiritual successor to Planetside, but instead it looks like we're getting MMO Unreal Tournament. The speed in the above video is insane.
I hope they slow it down a little for the 360 version. I don't think I could play a game that fast.
That video has speed turned up, just look at how fast he zooms in & sniper people or just instantly notices them. Also the youtube videos show more humane speeds (still seems to be a UT-clone though).
If they think people will pay 15$/month for this they will be in for a surprise (especially since UT3 itself will come out before Huxley).

It's early to judge from just the video, but it really looks like it's too unstructured to be worthy of a monthly fee. A more coherent video might help, but it looks like there's no objective. I'd still kill for essentially a MMO version of the first Enemy Territory.
Huxley, that MMOFPS by Webzen that we all keep gushing about, had its beta go live in Korea back in September, so it's about time, I think for us to finally see some game play.
Do kids do anything else in South Korea these days other than master online games to make the rest of the world look bad in them?
So I didn't have a wierd dream about this game thread? There was probably a thread about this a year ago, right? At least that's what I'm guessing from all the posts. I'm getting all sorts of Deja Vu with this thread.
The UT3 servers on the PS3 version have tons of people ...
Because they have nothing else to play...
/swish
But seriously, if that looked too fast, then you really shouldn't be playing DM style games. The game looks like the PERFECT speed for me. I can't wait to sink my teeth into it.

I and I alone possess the knowledge of the true way to play these games and all of your opinions mean jack shit because mine are better.
It's sped up a good bit, and supposedly just a video of the PvP? Not really sure how you could judge the entire game based on that, supposedly there'll be more to it than that.

Honestly I think it looked a little slow. I guess the fact that it's a MMO as well as multi-platform means they have to reign it in.
The most disappointing thing to me though was that the movement seemed bland. No bunnyhopping, no jumping or ducking, no doublejumps, no longjumps, etc.
Edit: watching the video again, it seems like that may not be the case. The first quarter of the video it seems like he's playing against human players who are doing some of that. Then afterwards it seems like he's just fragging bots. Still, I the weapons give off the same feeling of bland, though that may be because they're just not showing the cool ones yet as well.

True. But I'll take what I can get to get a good MMO FPS game. Gaining exp for shooting a bitch? Yes please!

Wow... a fast paced MMORPG that actually is fast paced? No kidding? What do people expect?
Don't like fast paced? Don't get it. Its like when people complain about UT being fast paced, it's because it is meant to be and always will be.
I think I might go play Star Wars Pod racer and then complain that it's too fast, you know since I was expecting it to be like... walking speed.
it's obviously not planetside, considering planetside was slow (but i still loved it). i just wonder if it's actually going to be cool.
i really hate how everything is instanced nowadays, and not a consistent world (ie, ultima online style world). this is probably instanced like GW is instanced - get a group together, go into PvP.
maybe somebody can inform me otherwise.

There should be a powerwalking video game.
edit: Wow. After watching the video I think I would really like this game. Is it PC only?

Don't mind my last post, I'm just a sarcastic prick. I'm just pretty damn sure the developers said that they wanted it to be a futuristic fast paced MMO Shooter.
It's just a PvP video... if you look around on Youtube you can see some videos with the more MMO like PvE content. As far as I can tell you PvE to get guns/upgrades/etc. then can use that to go PvP with.

Everything I've read makes it sound like its about as much of an MMO as Guildwars. Instead of a lobby you have a capitol city. When you want to fight you load into a battle. Whether thats a 1v1 battle or a 60v60 battle or even 64 players vs. NPCs.
Its not like you can just drive out of the Capitol city and look for a fight.

That movie makes my fps gaming skills feel... inadequate. This looks like a game where you have to be korean to even compete! Hah stereotypes. Maybe they sped up the movie some to make it more interesting.
Okay, what the fuck is it with this gamevideos.com every time I load a video or something, like the one linked in the OP, it crawls to load and when paused, it seems it likes to get stuck.
EDIT: okay, it finally loaded. We saw plenty of the same parts of the level, which did make the video kind of boring but over all, I am not really impressed. The weapons all seem to have 1 mode of fire and eh, they don't seem too impressed either. Everything seemed very light and quick, I didn't see any slow but devastating weapons or action at all there. Now in UT, the Rocket Launcher is nowhere near the fastest weapon, but easily is one of the most brutal. With this, it just seemed everything was hyper speed.
You kind of have to wonder what the game will be like if say, it is played on the internet. You know, where there may be lagg...
1000 players per server
Hundreds of Quests
PVP and PVE environments
Large scale battles
Upgradeable weapons/armor
Clans and social network.
Hmm, I didn't know that. I was just looking at the gameplay videos. Now I'm rock hard. Rock hard.
The reason being that I'm a sucker for hardcore cooperative PvE content. I eventually quit WoW because the encounters were such that you could beat the game with 25 properly macro'd G-15 keyboards. But this game looks like it'll be actually based on player skill instead.
On the other hand it's Korean, so there's a 50-50 chance we'll need to kill 100,000,000 rabbits to reach level 2.

I honestly thought this game had been canceled. Although considering how bad Tabula Rasa is I don't hold much hope out for any mmofpsrpg things these days. I'd be more interested if there was a chance of a beta in the states that I could get in soon, but even if there is a closed beta I probably won't get in.
As one of many former Planetside-lovers I was hoping for something that looked much less deathmatchy. Maybe there's something deeper going on in the videos but if you told me that was just another shmo Unreal clone coming out I would be less surprised than if you told me it was an MMO.
Well.. I guess it's back to hoping Blizzard's next MMO is a Starcraft version of Planetside.

Funny you should say that, because the original designs for Quake were something along the lines of an MMO structure, with massive online components, phat lewt, opportunity for trading (and backstabing), the whole thing.
Of course, those plans were a bit too ambitious for a game of that time, so we got what we got.

UT3 is out already and noone bought it.

Ya nobody is going to buy it then either.
I had high hopes for this game.
Not at all what I thought it was going to be like. It looked as if it was going to be a bit more.. tatical. Seems a little too death matchey.
I've been waiting for this game for over a year.
