Mission Impossible - Finding an old album of train music
I am trying to locate an old album from the 70's produced by Readers Digest.
It is a collection of railroad songs an includes most of the definitive classics including:
Wabash Cannonball -> also I believe the name of the album "Wabash Cannonball Great Railroad Songs"
John Henry
Big Rock Candy Mountain
Casey Jones
As well as others.
When I was young, and I know I'm dating myself here, I listened to it until I wore the damn thing out.
I've never gone after old recordings before, if anyone has any advice as to finding the album I'd appreciate it. At the least I'd like to get the album track and artist list so I can track the songs down individually.
Thank you!

While this isn't exactly what you are looking for this cd had all the songs you listed.
As for finding the exact record. I would goto a local record store that specializes in vinyl. Tell them what you are looking for and start there. They may be able to point you to collectors that would have the record in question. You may even want to post up something on craigslist.
I've sent an Email to Readers Digest asking them directly. We'll go from there. It's amazing all the stuff I've dug up searching though. There have to be hundreds of versions of 'Casey Jones' and 'John Henry' and not one of them are anything like each other. Just the other day I dug into the iTunes Library of Congress train songs CD and it was rather moving to listen to those old, old recordings.

Dunno if any of those are them.
