Welcome to the Nominations thread for the 2007 Graphic Violence Awards! How this is going to work is that everyone is going to list their top five entries in the categories I'm going to list in this thread, and then we'll get a list of nominees based on a complicated point system only I know. Also it's not really complicated.

Anyways.

Put your final nominations in Bold font and put FINAL NOMINATIONS in BOLD RED TEXT so I don't skip past it. Also, please rank your top five, from 1 to 5, this is important

EXAMPLE:
FINAL NOMINATIONS

BEST DOG

1. Krypto
2. Cosmo
3. Sam
4. Lady
5. Scruff McGruff

Your categories to vote on are:

VILLAIN OF THE YEAR
BEST COLLECTION OR GRAPHIC NOVEL
(Graphic novels, trades, up to you guys!)
BEST COVER ARTIST
BEST COUPLE/ROMANTIC PAIRING
BEST ADAPTATION OF A COMIC BOOK INTO ANY OTHER MEDIUM
(can be a movie, video game, whatever)

DISCUSS AND SUCH

ALSO NOMINATE

OH AND THIS WILL CLOSE AT FIVE O'CLOCK PM CENTRAL TIME TOMORROW

For the villain category, are teams allowed or just individuals?

I'm putting up for discussion as Most Welcome Surprise the end of 52, with Ralph and Sue emerging as Ghost Detectives. It was a wonderful and fitting end to their arcs, gave fans what they want, and put a wonderful period on the end of the series.

As for best villain, Sinestro I think definitely ranks I think.

Sinestro barely did anything though. It was mostly Superboy and the Antimonitor that were the real trouble.

I'm thinking the Hood because he was pretty damn effective and actually seems to be competent enough to pull it off.

Yeah I was thinking the Hood, but really, that'd be voting for pure potential at this point, because he has only been around a couple months and hasn't accomplished much yet.

I think Sinestro is a good choice. Red Skull did manage to get Captain America killed this year. If you can nominate an entire race, the Skrulls might be a good choice, even though the big event won't be until next year.

The Phalanx, maybe? Ultron and the Hood have both been making moves in Marvel.

Everyone I'd nominate from DC was in the Sinestro Corps.

I don't know if he should win, but he should probably be acknowledged.

I'm thinking Sinestro, Superman Prime, the Hood, maybe Ultimate Doc Ock and uh...Miek, maybe.

The last two I'm a lot more iffy on. I'd go with Darkseid, but I haven't really been reading Countdown or any of the tie-ins.

Oh shit, definitely the Red Skull. Definitely him.

Red Skull absolutely. I completely forgot him, but yes. The man has actually achieved A LOT of his goals, so yes. That alone puts him in the running.

Red Skull's also been one of the key parts of one of the best storylines of the entire year, so yeah. God, now that I think of it, he's my number one choice.

Guys, I'd like to toss Stardust in the ring for best adaptation, as it's one of my favorite movies this year.

And Most Welcome Surprise is the best thing to happen this year that you didn't expect, be it a comic moment or a title turning out better than you expected.

    It might take some discussion.

It was released in a comic book format originally, if I'm not mistaken.
Initially it was released in 1997 in what is known in the medium of comics as a "prestige" format four-issue mini-series. This means it came out once a month in a square-bound high-gloss comic, with high grade paper, high quality color and no advertisements
