pretty much all the closeups of the animals when they're talking were animated.

or did you think they taught dogs and pigs to talk?

painted on mouth movements don't make it an animated movie

I can't pick a best Pixar movie. They're all so different.
    Monsters Inc is my favorite.

I don't think it's been said in this thread yet, but Wall-E is going to be almost completely without dialog, from what I've read.

    Oh God yes!

I was getting that impression from the trailer but then when he says "Waaaalll-EEEE" at the end I was afraid. I'd LOVE to see a full-length pixar movie about a robot with minimum dialog. I think it would be pretty cool.
Stanton pitched the story to Ben Burtt who signed on to do the sound design. There is little traditional dialogue in the film; Stanton joked, "I’m basically making R2-D2: The Movie", in reference to Burtt's work on Star Wars. To create dialogue, Burtt took various mechanical sounds, and combined them to resemble dialogue. For a character named AUTO, Burtt used old Maritime military sounds to express the character's emotions.

Anyone who didn't at least get a little misty-eyed at the end of Monsters Inc. when
    Boo goes "Kitty!"
is clearly incapable of experiencing human emotions.

EDIT: Maybe that's a little spoilerish, I guess. Tagged it as such, just in case.

Okay so funny thing happened. I just googled Studio Ghibli and was looking at the vocal cast for Tales of Earthsea and I noticed this man, Matthew Levin. The first thing I thought when I saw his portrait on the Ghibli site was "Wow, he looks like a character from Mass Effect (blame the buzzed hair, he looks like my Shepard). I IMDB him to see what else he's in and right there, under number 2 on the list:
    2. Mass Effect (2007) (VG) (voice) (as Matthew Levin) .... Additional Roles

    Just sharing.

Titanic and every other movie with CGI special effects in it (which is nearly all of them nowdays) is hardly comparable to Babe, which has a fair amount of animation in pretty much every single scene...

besides, animated does not mean "cartoon"

let's just call it "mixed" and leave it at that ok?

    this is a dumb argument.

putting Babe in the same category as Iron Giant and Ratatouille just makes you seem a little retarded
I'm just saying, you might want to be aware of that

Babe is not an animated movie. At all.

It is a live-action movie that also has CG effects.

Lord of the Rings has more CG than Babe, including a fully CG character in Gollum, but you'd never call it an animated movie, would you?

Then again, Babe did rely on CG for nearly every character.

I mean, he's almost onto something there. He could just be 'bergin really hard y'know. Not straight-up retarded.

yeah I might be retarded, I mean the film uses animatronic puppets and animated lipsync for nearly all the main characters in almost every single scene....

then again, being extremely fucking pedantic about the casual use of one little word on the intertweb could make you look like a huge fucking nerd ... so I guess it would even out then eh?

It will deal with a frog. Possibly one that talks in hilarious tones of voice.

Then he tries to shore up the levees through sheer force of love

Later he gets eaten by hungry survivors in the Superdome.

    The end.

So I want to weigh in here because I love pixar.

    Best is Monster's Inc.

The least desirable of all the fantastic movies is Cars

Also did anyone else like Toy Story 2 more than the original?

Both Toy Stories were really good, it's hard to say which is better overall. The first one was pretty amazing, but the sequel was pretty good in it's own right.

My favorite is easily Finding Nemo.
