Ok, my brother wants some new headphones and my mom doesn't know what to look for and I don't either so I come to you guys!
Shes looking to spend around $50 on them, and we know he wants the ones that cover the whole ear. I can't remember the term for that, but yeah. Im not sure what else he's looking for in them, but he listens to a lot of the stuff that you hear on the new rock stations and such.
For $70-75 you can get Sennheiser HD280's. Collapsible, covers the ears, great sound, comfortable. It's what I'm getting myself for Christmas.
Headphones are dangerous because there's always something just a little better for $10 more. If you're really stuck on $50, reviews say the Senheiser PX100's are pretty good. This price range is really just dominated by Senheiser and Koss, and you can't really go wrong with the former. Above $100 is where things get tricky as Grado, beyerdynamic, and AKG enter the game.

mmm, grados.
but yeah, you can't go wrong with sennheiser's in the $50 range... i wouldn't trust many other brands for that low of a price - been burnt too many times.
