Weird involuntary arm movement (sort of)

So this morning I woke up by the sound of my phone ringing. The sound made me instantly awake (I wasn't groggy in the least) and I stumbled out of bed and into the living room to answer the phone. As I reached to pick the phone up, however, my arm felt like it was going through a thick jello or something. I tried and tried to "push" my arm through it but every inch I pushed forward my arm slid back like two inches or so. No matter how much I tried, I could not get my right arm to pick up that phone until maybe after seven seconds of pushing with all my strength.

Does anyone know what happened? Thanks.

Was it asleep? It sounded like you laid on it for long enough that it was almost completely numb.

Arm fell asleep while you were asleep, and it was like that for a long, long time.

You were probably sleeping on it funny and got up too fast. Once I slept on my leg funny and somebody called me at 5:30AM. I jumped out of bed only to find that my right leg was not working and immediately collapsed right onto the floor knocking over a small table and such. I couldn't stand up for maybe 10 seconds.

It didn't feel like it was asleep. It felt completely fine when I was swinging it and walking down the hallway, and I had no trouble turning the light on in my room when I walked out.

Yes, that's completely normal. When I finally regained control of my leg I didn't have the tingly sensation that you usually get after your appendage is asleep.

Not-a-doctor's second opinion: Localized partial seizure could cause that feeling as well. I used to have those with my arm.
