Just got Guitar Hero 3 for my HTPC for Christmas. When I load the game, it's all scrambled on my TV. Pretty well figure it's a problem with resolution or vsync, and one of those two being set to something my TV doesn't support. Is there a way to force resolution through the command line? Or some other way to force resolution since I can't see the game's main menu? Specs are as follows:
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 32BIT RTM
This is all hooked up to a Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV, model KLVS40A10. It's only a 720p set, so max resolution on the PC side is 1366x768. Anything beyond that and supports gets dicey. I have a couple pictures of the effect should anyone need a visual reference.
GH3 wasn't working for my brother, so I hooked him up with Frets on Fire (which he uses with the GH3 controller) and he's a lot happier. I'd try to make sure the TV is the problem, though; run the game on your monitor and see what happens. nVidia's control panel can force settings on games, though, if it comes to that.
you can probably set up a custom game profile in the nvidia control panel for your graphics card. im not sure if it will work, but it could be able to force the resolution to something the tv supports and then you can change it once you get the game running.
you could also look in the game folder for the configuration file and manually edit the resolution yourself.
