Power Problems With External HD

I picked up an external hard-drive from Best Buy last night; a Simpletech High-Speed USB 320GB hard drive (with AC Adaptor for power). After installing the ArcSoft backup program into my computer, I proceeded to make a backup of my important files. However, it seems that whenever I try to make a backup or copy over anything big for that matter, the HD powers down unexpectedly by itself. I tried switching the USB connection from the port in front to one in the back and downloading another backup-program but it still errors out due to shutdown. If anyone could help me figure out what's wrong, I'd really appreciate it. Here's a link to a Cnet.com review on the HD for more info on it.

I'd say take it back. It sounds like the power supply can't handle the stress when the HD is under load.
