Questions for you! (MGS2: Substance, GCN, REvil, Public Transportation, etc...)
1) I was a huge fan of the original Metal Gear Solid, on Playstation and have been itching to play the second and third one for a long time and since my PS2 and Gamecube were "stolen" about 1-2 years ago, I've considered buying Substance on OXbox. Is it any good? Besides the typical things you hear when talking about MGS2 (lolcutscenes), is there anything wrong with the Xbox port?
lolcliffs: Are there any technical problems with MGS2: Substance on OXBOX?
2) Should I buy a used Gamecube for $30-$40 dollars? I have a real itching to play the copy of RE4 I own (I got to the fork in the road before the GCN disappeared). It's $30 if I take a 1-2 hour bus ride to Gamestop, or $40 if I just buy it from my local gaming store.
lolcliffs: Should I buy a used Gamecube to finally finish RE4, and if I do... should I save $10 on the purchase and take a 2 hour bus ride.
I don't plan on buying a PS2 for some time, but eventually and that's when I would play MGS3. I'm just thinking "Hey! Why not get MGS2 out of the way so when you get your brand new spankin' $99 dollar PS2, you'll only have MGS3! left." But if it's a bad port? Then... ehh...
The technical issues with substance are minor graphical glitches here and there and shitty controls, also the framerate can slip. On the plus side its pretty much the world's most overprinted game and can probably be found for pennies.
Buy a cube to play RE 4. It's worth it. Gauge the value of your time to determine which one you get. I tend to value time spent as more than ten dollars/hour, but it may be different for you. Just know that I've heard that a bunch of Gamestops had a run on used Gamecubes for the holidays, for reasons unknown. Possibly from parents ductaping two of them together...

A GCN is always worth it. I would never part with Pikmin. If I didn't have a Wii, my GCN would still be setup if only for Pikmin.
Also, save yourself the 2 hours and pay the extra $10 or order online.
