There aren't many things more intense than winning an AV by 4 reinforcements.
I had a good day in EotS the other day... Opposing team was winning by about 600 points. Right as they hit 1999/2000 they lose their last tower, and we go on to winning it. It was pretty much the highlight of my night.
Quick question PVP with 200ms connection. Impossible or Don't sweat?
I PvP with 500ms.
Man, you have it easy.
Lol, so I'm guess 200 isnt really that bad?
I used to play on a west coast server and I am from Long Beach, CA. Got pings in the 30s. Now I play with my buddy on an east coast server and I get from 150-200 usually. Havn't noticed any lag yet, but I am only 12 right now. I don't want to get to 70 and realize I am lagging to hell.
I've got some pvp questions for you folks. I remember when there were just 3 battlegrounds and one set of gear you could earn from going up in rank. now there's 4 battlegrounds and the arena, and about 8 different sets of eq for warlocks alone.
is arena gear much harder to get than regular pvp gear? it's slightly better right? let's say you were hardcore grinding honor or arena points. what would get you epix faster - the arena or battlegrounds? also, is a healing priest + affliction warlock a terrible arena team or would we have any success? my gf and I used to be raiders - her a healy priest and me a dps lock - and those are the only roles we know =d but I would wonder if we wouldn't have enough dps/versatility as a 2 man arena team.

From what I understand, the way Honor Gear works is its basically a "hand me down" set. When an arena season ends, they take last seasons gear and drop it in price for "arena points" the sets 2 seasons ago become gear you can get via honor. Each Season has better gear to get. The way you get points in arenas to buy armor is much different the honor gear. You have to make a team for an arena type (2v2, 3v3, or 5v5). When you queue for an arena match, you go in with members of your team. Your team gets a "rating" which it uses to match you with other players of similar rating. As you win matches, your rating goes up. If you lose, it goes down. Your team is awarded points every week, and those points are divided among everyone in the team. So long as you participated in a majority of the games that week, you get points.
Priest + Lock might not be too bad, but you might find it hard because you'll be doing most of the DPS. If you get taken out early it'll be hard for the holy priest to end the fight. If you can manage to keep guys feared and take out key targets first you might stand a good chance.
If that above post is true in that season to season the previous season's set can be bought outside of arenas
For the most part the warlock sets are about the same as in pvp vs pve sets
The rogue set though is not for me part of my goal before Wotlk comes out is to get the full tier 5 set on my rogue the odds of this are slim to none as time goes on
With S4, S2 gear will be buyable with honour (and presumably, the last set to do so, assuming that S4 comes out with 2.4, which is supposed to be our last major TBC patch I believe, or at least the last Content Patch).
Unless WOTLK isn't due out until early 2009, I suspect S5 will be the first level 80 set.

I'm just annoyed that the PVP monkeys didn't get their own armor artwork. Us PVE people fight tooth and nail for our stuff, all the PVP people need to do is be good enough to stockpile points.
interesting... so say you win about 50% of your arena matches. how many points can you expect to win each week? enough for at least 1 piece of eq a week or no way? also, there's a minimum number of matches you have to play each week in order to be ranked, right? what's that number again? is it a good practice to do exactly that many matches, just so you're eligible to win points that week?
let me put it this way. I'm still wearing a lot of crap from naxx and c'thun - in other words, my gear sucks, and even the pvp set would be a big upgrade. should I just farm battlegrounds and settle for that, or should I shoot straight for the latest arena set?
If you win 50% of your games, let's assume that you always stay at 1500 rating. This gives you 344 points per week in a 5v5.
edit: and 10 matches to be able to get points.
Though I'm sure when the other team see's you in tier 3 they're gonna assist train your ass and you'll lose like, all your games.
this is a good point. especially since my partner is in about the same stuff. maybe we should farm battlegrounds first -_- I mean, we're pretty good at playing our chars, but probably not good enough to make up for, like, a 400 spell damage and 3000 hp difference between me and the competition.

Man, I can never seem to find anyone in Ravenholdt to get me into Beasts.

If you're talking just in the mainhand, anyone. If you're talking in both hands, probably limited to rogues.
Warriors and shaman both want slow offhand weapons and it's not easy finding a slow offhand fist weapon. (Haven't bothered looking, but the most readily available ones [arena] are fast.)
Any volunteers willing to use a Scroll of Resurrection on me? I'm curious as to whether the leveling changes are enough for me to roll a character on a new server and not be sick of the leveling grind. I've played one too many alts, so the faster the lower levels go by the better ;-)
I've also acquired a new monitor since I last played, so I'm interested in whether I get a playable framerate at 1680x1050.

Assuming you stay steady at 1500 rating for every week it'll take 4 weeks to get a top level item (currently Season 3), 3 for the second level (currently Season 2). On the honor side of things there's the lowest set (currently Season 1) and top level equivalent set fillers (Belt, Bracer, and Boots). You could grind honor and get an item per week or so.
What you should do though is both: arena 10 games a week so you get points and in the meantime grind honor to get the honor pieces. As you mentioned, with Tier 3 you'll have a severe stamina gap and that is going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome, second to needing resilience gear to cut down on incoming damage. Still you should be able to win some games in the arena, especially once you start getting your BG gear.

the benefit of slow/slow is more damage from Whirlwind, the advantage of slow/fast is smoother rage generation. I think the guys over at the EJ forums have numbercrunched that out in fine detail, but I think its still in favour of slow/fast.

Thanks for all the advice I think this is pretty much what I'll do. when you say top level equivalent set fillers, are you saying that the belts, bracers, and boots you can buy with honor are the equivalent of the best arena gear? Sounds like those are what I should get first with my honor...
it's funny how in the pre-expansion days, I knew like everything about this game, and now I don't know my ass from my elbow.
I'm grinding honor for the s1 weapons and all the honor gear that wont be used by gladiator pieces. At the same time, I'm saving up arena points to get s2/s3 gear. I don't want to spend the time grinding out the honor for s1 gear that will be replaced (other than weapons), so I'm using the honor for the bracers/belt/feet/etc.
Arena gear is only for the head,shoulders,chest,hands, and legs in armour, and also they have weapons/librams/totems/druid thingies
The non-set epics are from honour, which is the neck,boots,bracers,belt, ring and trinkets
The honour vendor's also have the S1 arena gear for sale
For the arena sets :
S1 = Gladiator
S2 = Merciless
S3 = Vengeful
For the non-set epics :
S1 = General's/Marshall's
S2 = Veteran's
S3 = Vindicator's
Though I don't think you can get the S1 stuff anymore and only the rings in the S2 stuff (for the non-set epics that is)
Best place to start would be to get 2 pieces of S1 gear from the battlegrounds simply cause its your best bang for your honour bucks, due to getting the 2 piece set bonus, for the set bonuses S1 to S3 count as the same set. But if the arena gear is for a different spec (i.e the healing pieces count as a different set from the damage pieces on a priest) you can get 2 +35 resilience bonuses.
General arena stuff
Matched up based on ratings, everyone starts at 1500
For the team to get points minimum 10 games per week have to be done, points clock over bit before maintenance on tuesday
For you to get points you must have done minimum 30% of the games per week
2v2 = 80g 3v3 = 120g 5v5=200g to set up
Make sure you get the pvp trinket before you do arena though (The 5min cd one is around 2.8k honour now I think) and don't be afraid to do more then 10 games per week to actually get a better feel for arena Arena Calculator to see how many points you get per week

My 60 fury warrior is still wearing the MH and OH fist weapons from ZG, which is a fast/fast combo, and it seems to work relatively well.
S4 will be the season that starts 1-2 months after WoTLK launches, if anything.
I disagree.
Blizzard has stated that they recognize that releasing Naxxramas so late in vanilla WoW's lifecycle was a bad idea. Very few people saw any significant number of bosses, and far fewer saw it to completion. It was (as is often stated by those who completed it) among Blizzard's finest instances to date, and very little of that work was put to signficant use. Not a good use of resources, eh?
And thus, we get to hit it again at level 80 in WOTLK.
This tells us that they intend to give us a signficant period of time between 2.4 and WOTLK. Now, Naxx was over a dozen bosses, whereas Sunwell will be half that many, so obviously they don't intend to give us over half a year for this place, but I doubt it'll be any less than 3-4 months either (from release to expansion).
Now, erring a little on the side of "We haven't heard shit about WOTLK since Blizzcon" as opposed to the "thousands of beta testers for TBC", I suspect that S4 will come out with 2.4 (along with ilevel 151-159ish T6.5 gear on par with whatever we get in the Sunwell itself), meaning that S5 (mid to late 2008?) will likely be the first WOTLK season.

Shenanigans.
They wanted 2.4 to be on the PTR's before 2008, and far as I know, it's not. I believe they were going to get close, but decided not to, as other than a bunch of people cramming onto said PTR's, the holidays meant that little in the way of productive work would get done.
If anything, I suspect we'll see 2.4 on the PTR's in the next month.
Now, if they can manage to get the place tested and live within a month then maybe S4 will be with WOTLK (or some midterm point in 2008 between now and said expansion, in the event we don't see it until Q3 or Q4 or later), but that remains to be seen. With a month or two or more on the PTR's, I could see them giving out a slightly 'early' S4 to give the PVP'ers something to do with snazzy new gear, lest the cries of "the raiders get something, why don't weeeeeee" get too loud.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but until we at least see live PTR's, I'm not holding my breath.

We already know there'll be no Tier 7 in Sunwell. So far Blizzard has started a season per tier set. Makes sense that there'll be no 4th season to go along with Sunwell.
So, I'm a feral druid, 21000 armor, 12300 hp, 23 dodge, uncrittable, and I good to go for heroics/kara or do I still need to work on it a bit more?
I can probably pull in another 1000 or so armor with a day or two's work if I need too.
Edit: Or rather, I will pull in another 1000 or so with a days work when I bother to get around to it. Got a couple of quests that need finishing and still need to do a mark of tyranny run.
