Story time! We're in Karazhan, wrapping up the Overnight. We've just gotten to Prince, I'm tanking him in bear.
We lose one, then two, dips before 80% and decide it's a wipe, but keep going anyway so I can at least show the new guy the phases and clue him in about how fucking gay the abyssals (they're not infernals, it turns out!) are. This is my first time tanking him, things seem okay, then 60% and whoa 3/4 of my life just disappeared god he hits like a truck (fortunately our healers were on the ball). We're doing well enough so Scalia brezzes one of the dips, and we continue.
By 30% we're down three dips due to lack of attention and a lousy abyssal, but fuck it we keep going anyway. At 10% the abyssals are too much, and we start losing people. We run down to myself, two healers and one dips. Then at 5% two healers, one desperately OOM. Then 3%, one healer. 2%, last healer dies and blows his SS. Just before 1% he dies again. For those keeping track at home, this means I'm alone.
<cue epic music here> Paw Wall (Badge of Tenacity and Moroes' Lucky Pocket Watch gooooo). Eat a pot and healthstone at 20% (go go /cancelform macro). Abyssal just landed on me, I'm running out of life, oh god

None of the above. Should I have included the words "At end-game?"
We have a holy paladin that consistently tops healing meters, and we typically assign our paladins (3, maybe 4 per raid) to heal the tank. Shaman/priest is typically on the raid, as they have much better group orientated heals. Resto druid is eh. On the few occassions we have one, he just HoTs things (depending on the fight).
We make great consistent healers if we pump out nothing but Flash of Light, Casting holy light is great for saving tanks if they survive long enough for the first cast but it hurts our mana so bad.
We're just lucky we get blessings or we'd be out of a raid spot. Also can we get some new useful (to other people) Auras in Lich king? I havent turned conc aura off in months except for the rare AoEing fire/shadow/iec mob.
If a paladin is topping your meters tell the shaman chain healing to stop sucking.
Our shaman does suck, I will give you that.
Edit: Our paladins usually have a shadow priest and are pretty good at cancelling heals, so mana isn't usually a huge issue. Also, shadow/fire aura is pretty useful on several boss fights.
Edit 2: Chain Heal kind of sucks for single target. A shaman beating a paladin on healing meters doesn't mean the shaman is a better single target healer.

Sometimes dipshits isn't far off the mark, but I meant DPS. We tend to pronounce it as "dips" on vent, and it kinda stuck. Sorry if it bugs you
I always wondered how other people prounounced that as a word. We say "deeps", and while I also don't care for its use as a verb, its faster than saying "damage dealing capabilities" or "melee damage". Also, I'm a very lazy man.

My Paladin is prot and I can't remember the last time I used Divine Shield. It's viability is questionable as far as I'm concerned.
Oh wait. I occasionally use it to break out of CC effects. Soooooo.....Drood's can shapeshift! NERF!
I'll use it to clear debuffs sometimes (like A'lar) and if I'm trying to see test the limits of what I can do, and sometimes rarely on high health elites. But the "But, but, but, but DS!" crowd are a bunch of morons.

There is a guy in my guild that instead of pronouncing it "Maylay", pronounces it "Meeeleee"...
SO fucking annoying, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

Urgh. Me and the other guild pally rant about that all the time.

Ahahaha. I'm stopping my healbot career. Because holy paladins suck once the other healing classes start gearing up.
Sure, I can toss out huge heals on the tank... for a minute. Then I'm out of mana.
No, paladins are way better as spot healing for the raid with their infinite FoL spam.
Maybe it's shorthand for "dipshits".

Dorf males and BE males pull off S2 really well.
But then again, Dorfs make everything better.
