Time to dust off the old suit. I think this is a great idea and if it's pulled off I hope everyone appreciates what Rygar is doing. Also, I have a feeling the demand for this could be pretty high, so just accept the restrictions (some of them will be because of the ballroom) and try not to hassle him in this thread too much.
I'd have a hard time attending without dishing out some dosh. Hell, Rygar, even if you want to do it all on your own dime and be a demigod of the PAX community, at least accept donations to a local charity or something. Let those of us with weighty consciences be assauged!
Also, I have this badass suit, shirt, and tie combo that I have been dying to bust out forever, but completely lacked the event. THIS could be such an event.

Now, I have the whole gown thing figured out ( I hope I can make it) but my husband has absolutley nothing he could wear. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to by a big n' tall jacket for a good price?
$1600 mandatory catering fee for no food. Its something to consider.
I bet that's the best way to go. Spending 7.5k on a bunch of nerds who would rather have a cheeseburger and fries seems silly. That's $100 a head, whereas at a fast food joint it's $5 a head, and we can probably stuff ourselves even more.
Could we bring food to the party? Make it a BYOF deal?
Think of how much you could hide in the tophat.
I'm just imagining a guy dressed to the nines, sneaky look on his face, a towering top hat, and gravy running down his face. :P

Holy crap, does anyone have any friends in the Artist's Corner boards? I'd LOVE to see a quick sketch of that.
This'll be my first one and the idea of a semi-formal party with you guys sounds fantastic, I love any excuse to bust out a suit. I'll be 21 by then too.
So yeah, I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.
Brits can drink more than yanks, and I'll still kick your arse at brawl. Consider the gauntlet thrown down.
I am not that good at smash brothers and have only played brawl once
It has recently come to my unfortunate attention that a good deal of my former PAX-mates will not be attending this year due to children, jobs, weddings, and being generally lame individuals.
I think a party is in order to lift my spirits.
I live in the Seattle area, and while there is no way I can bankroll thousands of dollars for a party, I could contribute a chunk of cash and local time for assistance if you could use some help, Rygar. I imagine with some arm-twisting you could save yourself plenty of time and money by recruiting from the forums. Shoot me a PM if you think I can help.
I am coming all the way from Australia for PAX and I'll be damned if I can't get myself into some form of kick-ass party, formal, semi or just a bunch of awesome people in a hotel room. The semi-formal deal sounds great! Definitely up for it. Although the party-of-many-parts sounds cool if an efficient communication system could be organised so you can know where and how full parties are and can move between them meeting many a funky individual as you go!

There is a thread about using Twitter for PAX, and although I've never used it, it sounds like it could be a great resource for this if the right (amount of) people use it.

Well, either way, this sounds like win in the making. If there's still room at the inn, count me in for a tux/suit and a bottle of top-shelf hooch (or, alternatively, a mass of local beer) :-)
Okay this officially went outside my budget. However, if I book it for next year, I get a huge discount. So lets revisit this in 12 months. But seriously, bump up the price to 13k because you just found out there was a videogame convention in town? WTF do you think I wanted with the fucking ballroom, four couches, and four plasma tvs? Porn? Well maybe. But seriously, honor your damn quotes, not my fault you don't mark your calendar.
Well you never know, I might get a bonus, but sans that, I am probably just gonna do one of the party rooms for me and a couple of friends. What was the original plan anyways? A Venture Bros party or something?

I believe the plan is to have a hotel party, where we try to get as many PAXers on one floor as possible, and each room features a different flavor of party/game.
Party Cap'n Moe Fwacky probably has a better handle on the details than I.

The details are that the hotel won't give us a floor, so that can't happen. Not unless an entire floor is full of PAXers who also want to party, which is a tough coincidence to plan for.
Although now that I work within walking distance, I am gaining respect for The Hurricane as well, and though I haven't been there yet, there's also Five Point Cafe, Seattle's oldest 24 hour diner (since 1929).

thank you four years of choir!
I feel that pitching in some money for this event is a MUST. Even just having a donation jar at the entrance would appease our consciences a little.
Also, I have this badass suit, shirt, and tie combo that I have been dying to bust out forever, but completely lacked the event. THIS could be such an event.
Fixed.
Oh, and I think the donation idea is fantastic.
In the morning, everyone regrets this descision.

But which frock? Oooo and heels, too. And slap (make-up for the uninitiated). And tiara (a monocle would just look silly!)
I'm not that good at games, but a) can play Portal, and b) can paint.
Whohoo, can't wait.

Perhaps, a Rock Band?
anything + rock band = uber fun.
Accelerate!
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
Not quite anything
European Pricing + rock band =/= uber fun.
Don't get me started on special editions prices... >____<
Anyway, we can always rely on Guitar Hero if Rock Band is not on the mood ;P

Either way, it sounds awesome.
Does this information appear in a prior post and I'm just a lazy douchebag?

Takes 5 minutes to set up, and will be very useful for getting to know fellow PAXers and organizing things when we're all at PAX.

Problem is, the plan would later include arrests.
I'd rather not get arrested down there. I know what you guys do to Canadians...
Sound's like a job for Beth's.

I've actually been there. I like that place
