So Ive been wondering if Pyschonauts is worth purchasing on pc, but with the only way to play it being keyboard and mouse. I dont have doubts that its a good game, but if it controls terrible under that format I wouldnt want it. I havnt really tried platformer like games on the pc, except POP:sands of time, and I remember that as a decent experience.

I would try to get an Xbox 360 controller to plug into your PC. That's what I do whenever I want to play console sports games.

Psychonauts is not going to be very easy to control with WASD, I think.

I haven't had trouble playing Psychonauts with KBM. It's on sale for 50% off until tomorrow on Steam, too, so I'd recommend buying it asap!

I had no problems playing it KBM to be honest, although you're probably better playing it with a controller if thats your thing.

I played Psychonauts just fine with KBAM. Generally I prefer it to controller (I think it's the better camera control that does it).

Same with PoP: Sands of Time actually. I had to switch to a gamepad when I moved on to Warrior Within (they overcomplicated the combat if you ask me, but anyway, more attack / move buttons made it difficult for me to come to a keyboard configuration I liked). I still missed the easier camera control. It seems like half the time the automatic camera changing puts the view facing the wrong direction and I can never see what I'm supposed to be jumping at.

I played it a few years ago on KBM just fine, although I do feel the game is better suited for a controller.

I just got it and have been playing with KBM for awhile, but it honestly feels like it would be better with a gamepad. Platformers are generally better suited for an analog stick. I'll probably get a wired 360 controller. The wireless ones are around $60 and as cool as it is I'm not sure it's worth it since my PC is right by my feet anyway.

It just kinda sucks since I don't have any other games that would be good with a controller on my PC at the moment. But I'm sure others will come along.

I played it through from the beginning to the end with KBM. I don't even know if a controller would work better, since KBM worked fine.

I dunno, the controls work good, but it just feels a bit off playing a platformer with a keyboard.

Cheap on Steam, cheaper at Big Lots ($4), and free on GameTap? Makes me wonder why I own two boxed PC copies.

So I got a wired 360 controller and the game feels much better, but it doesn't recognize the second analogue stick. Any suggestions?

Get GameTap. You'll never be happier that you picked up a gamepad, whether it's a cheap $20 Logitech pad, or a $50 wired 360 controller.

I tried Psychonauts when it released for the PC at a friend's house. It's possible to play it with KBAM, but it's much more difficult than with a controller. I'd reccomend dropping a few bucks and picking one up.

I think Psychonauts played fine with a KB&M. The only issues I had were the barbed wire thing at the end of the Coach's level, and the meat circus... in terms of controls, but TBH, even those weren't really all that bad.

Got it working just fine, just had to bind the right analogue. I didn't even think about Gametap Einhander, that's a good idea, tons of good console games to play on there.

I've played through it twice on the PC, the first time with KBAM and the second with a PS2 controller. It works both ways, but I had more fun while using the controller. (If you play with the keyboard, you'll only be losing the ability to walk slowly and the camera control won't be as good.)

Yeah basically the bonus is the analogue movement. I love having the more precise control with the stick.
