FYI to those thinking of creating UK accounts, I believe the "1 week gold only" rule applies. So you won't be able to get this on a silver account. However you may get 1 free month of gold when signing up for the first time. Can anyone confirm?

Currently downloading the demo and expecting to be disappointed. It's a multiplayer aimed shooter and I tend to hate those. With a passion.

This was quite fantastic in the brief 10 minutes I played. Completed the initial basic prison level but could do no higher. Any tips ? I thought I had a killer run with a 15 combo but it turns out that was lame :/

My only tip is don't rush... I shot through (pun intended) thinking I was doing great but I missed to many kills for the sake of keeping the multiplier high, instead take some time to make sure u kill everyone, and remember style counts, use grenades for multi kills, barrels, head shots etc, even if that means dropping a few combo points (the multiplier ticks down one at a time rather than just returning to zero). Search out the medallion thingies on the walls as well I managed to destroy the medium score my 3rd time out.

I tried the demo of this yesterday after being rather scpeitcal of its quality and I was pleasantly surprised. It felt similar to Tony Hawks or old fashioned Shmups. Even still I'm not sure I'll drop full price on it unless the MP is really something special.

I spent at least an hour improving my time in the CoD4 training mode so I could see myself digging this game. I just don't know why they're being stingy with the demo if they know they have a hit on their hands.

When I tried it, I didn't necessarily have any complaints with the game itself, it seemed to play well and it was fine running around and shooting guys (although I do agree with Grinch about the 'jumping over stuff' thing), but I just don't think it's for me. The goal seems to be about iterative improvement, keeping playing the same level over and over again until it's a pitch-perfect recital where you've got the placement of every bad-guy, bonus and weapon memorised to maximise your score. That's great, but it's really not how I like to play games.
Just to clarify, I'm not trolling or pissing on the thread, just saying why it's not my kind of thing.

I may like it more in the full game, with a different character, I felt the one you were given was a bit sluggish.

The demo for this came out in NA just now on XBL. It is fun as all hell, I can only imagine what the leaderboards for this thing will look like.

8 levels divided up into several routes and types(some consisting of laps with differing enemy patterns on each lap), 8 characters, tons of guns... it looks like they hit the mark here.

It's up? I'm definitely checking it out tonight. When does the full game actually come out in NA?

The thread title is mildly amusing (is it a European humor thing, sorry, I'm not really getting it) but I don't know if it's really conveying how potentially awesome the game could be. Tycho had nothing but grand things to say of The Club when he tried out the demo last week:
When Bizarre Creations dropped a demo for The Club in the mysterious east (by which I mean Europe and Australia), I felt confident that it would arrive here shortly. I picked up a magazine and began to leaf through it, certain that any moment a demo for The Club would emerge. It didn't, and still hasn't, on the PS3 or Xbox Live. Those regions get screwed over with some frequency, so I took this as a kind of karmic reversal. I quickly set about creating "Yuropn" on PSN, a version of myself who lives in a manor house in Congleton, Cheshire, a man whose noble blood would grant him rights to the demo. After playing it for several days, in every mode, multiple times, I think it makes up for the slights they must endure the rest of the year.

The subset of the game they have exposed is flawless. Imagine an incredible, high-fidelity shooter level, cut into distinct routes the way cities are in PGR or Ridge Racer. Add to this the classic play of a "shmup," where enemy patterns, precise control, and iterative strategy maintain full engagement throughout each level. Affix to this pristine Goddamn marvel an almost rhythmic combo structure that ties deeply into these other systems - one where killing at a certain rate is key. Art and technical execution are... perfect. That is the word. If I'd seen this thing months ago, I would have bought these fuckers, too.

Lewiep's "jacked-up Mercs mode from RE4" comparison is sounding more and more delicious to me. More people need to know about the game -- I almost skimmed over it entirely because "The Club" is almost as generic of a title as "Battlefield: Heroes."

Yeah, this game looks and sounds so generic that whenever I hear about it or see screenshots I have to remind myself that 'wait a minute, this isn't some random shooter, this is that one game that looks freakin awesome!'

It's a shame, but it won't stop me from playing.

    There's like...

a split second pause between when I pull the trigger and when the firing begins. That throws me off, and to be an arcady game, I can't really see why there's a delay.

I had to turn the gamma all the way up, because I couldn't see shit. But after I got the baddies memorized, that became less of a problem.

I'll give it another try later. I was only able to find like... four regular skull combos and two secrets. It detailed how to do those "style" kills, but I don't think it ever gives you the option to do it in the demo. Does the level have branching paths?

    What's the multiplayer like?

The demo is currently downloading upstairs, it should probably be about done right now. I probably wouldn't have noticed the delay if you hadn't mentioned it, and if it bothers me now I'm going to kill you. :P

    I didn't notice the delay.

multiplayer (granted it was 2 player split screen) did not impress me, and i was ready to write it off...

singleplayer however piqued my interest. We took turns running through missions trying to top each others scores and had quite a fun time doing so...
