Hey, I had the exact same problem (i.e. stuck on "Acquiring Network/IP Address") with my Dad's computer's wireless. Even manually setting the Network and Gateway IPs didn't work. I thought it was something to do with the wireless DHCP or possibly the WPA, as a wired connection worked fine. Wireless on the ol' Mac works fine too, odd.
