I'm having this really weird problem with xbox live voice chat. For some reason when ever i'm in a game with this one friend, we are unable to hear each other. We can both hear everyone one else and they can all hear us. The little chat icon doesn't even light up saying that he is talking like everyone else does in the game lobby. We are able to talk fine if we use a private chat room though. This has been going on since we both got 360 which was about a week before gears of war came out. Even after i moved back in september and changed from comcast cable to verizon dsl, the problem still occures. Im also sure its not my router since i still have to pick one up for my new place. We've also tried having different people host the game but that didn't seem to help either. Does anyone have a clue what the hell is going on here?
It is possible. My brother and I had a similar issue -- in GRAW 1 and 2, he could not do voice chat for some reason. Private chats worked fine, and a few other games worked fine (Marvel: UA, Gauntlet, Smash TV). We played COD4 with a group, and while I could hear him, and he could hear me, no one else could hear him and he couldn't hear anyone else. When I visited him, I logged myself in and tried to play and everything worked normally, so I don't think it's a connection issue, it's an account issue.
Anyway, that's a long-winded way of saying, check to make sure you haven't muted each other, as just suggested above me, and also I would double check your account privacy settings on xbox.com to make sure its not set to some weird setting for voice chat. Lastly http://live.tommccann.net to make sure that you both have Open NATs.
Even if i did mute my friend somehow, would that automatically make him mute me? Otherwise, what are the odds that we both accidentally muted each other and no one else.
capnrico: thanks for the link, im looking at it now.
