so with this weeks comics i've been thinking about getting back into FFXI only thing is everyone i knew who played no longer plays and it is a very team based game. I've thought about doing WOW but i have a ? is there a way to play WOW not paying by credit card? I have had two friends get screwed by blizzard when they try to quit and i don't want to become the third. Thanks in advance
blizzard cancelled there subscriptions but charged there card for 4 more months
Were they paying 6/12 months at a time? Because if you pay for 6 months and cancel after 2, all it means is it won't autorenew you, you'd still have normal access for the full 6 months you paid for.
Now, if they were being charged but didn't have game access, then something would be up.
You might want to give FFXI another try.
The end-game shells are much more relaxed about membership and epeen gear now, since there's a lot of old-timers (like me) who've seen most of their friends leave. It only takes a couple of XP parties or a mission to make new ones.
Also the new expansion has a lot of stuff you can do solo or semi solo (and the last expansion, depending when you left). You may also be able to re-active your old chars, if you want.
I see shouts asking for members for new shells all the time in Jeuno and Aht Urgan, you should be able to pick up a new family in no time (..and find out they're assholes, leave, find another one etc...).
Aes.
NB: I don't work for SqueeNix and have not been paid for this post, although I should have.
I miss mine, as well. I played WoW since release but quit about four months ago due to the following reasons:
- Lack of things to do when logging on
- The stress of playing arena (trying to maintain 1900 2v2 as mage/rogue)
- The elitist, shit talking morons that frequent the game
- All my friends quitting
Even with all that, I still get deep pangs of craving to play again, and I'm trying to hold it off. I'm waiting for WAR, but it won't be here for a long, long time.
Give EQ2 a try, it's very similar in the way quests and progression work (if with a less inspired art design). Alternatively, give City of Heroes/Villains a spin, there's a 14 day trial and the game can be a lot of fun if you team with PA chaps.

And how did your friends get screwed by Blizzard? Cancelling your subscription is a really painless procedure that takes no more than a minute.

Did they have a subscription for that many months? Because when you cancel it, you still have to pay for the time you said you would.
Yeah, MMOs are pretty gay.
HMO as in the healthcare plan.
You can download a Mac compatible version of WoW from the official site for free.
Link!
Painless? Making that peon cry was heart wrenching!
i thought he may have been referring in a very subtle and sophisticated way to the Family Guy episode.
Also.
