THE JANUARY GAME IS Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.
No url because JCRooks is a loser, thanks for playing.
I know Nintendo staggers its releases. Is there anything planned? I don't see any big name nintendo game threads right now. I thought it was Wii Fit this month, but that doesn't have a release date yet. SSBB is February's game.
So anything in January? Being specific here; only asking about their first party games.
That's Nintendo's? Also, this thread was worth making to remind me that game is coming out. Been wanting that game since it was shown before the Wii's release.

The only thing I can think is the next Advance Wars, although I think that's more second party than first party.
Doh -- I was wrong, Endless Ocean isn't first-party. This is the correct answer. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is being developed by Intelligent Systems, who are a Nintendo first-party.
I've played Endless Ocean.. and.. it sucks. You pick your diver (man or woman) and then you dive and look at fish. If you feed the fish or tickle them, you learn a little bit about them. It's like Pokemon except you can't fight or capture, just learn. And swim around slowly. It's not even that pretty, nor did they spend all that much time making it look good. It just looks like a blue underwater generic whathaveyou.
If the game was made on the PS3 and they spent years trying to make the water look as realistic and awesome as possible, you might have a game that I'd play for an hour, tops, but the core game mechanics are so one dimensional that you don't even care. I can't imagine why anybody would get really into this game.

See, there's your problem: the concept doesn't appeal to you. Personally, I think it sounds like a blast: a potential fun and relaxing underwater exploration game that I could share with my wife & daughter.

No, that's the thing, it appealed to me greatly. I'm all about relaxing games, and I adore underwater stuff, but it just was kind of boring and not at all relaxing. Just try to play it and let me know what you think. It wasn't even a "I can see how some people might like this", it was "What is this garbage?".
The only thing it had going for it was an original idea.
I think its awesome that we really have computer generated animation and silhouettes down tight to the point of photorealism in motion(that first screen shot, and the c130 Cod4 mission), but those other two photos really dont look that great to me.
edit: in fact the hippos scene looks like it could really be redone easily in oblivion, the grass and foliage in the backround looks like ass, and the mud up front just looks bleh.
endless ocean looks tempting, anything coop is pretty cool. If it had puzzles in the exploration areas it would be freaking bought. that and no pressure on remaining air......

Looks interesting, but certainly not my cup-o-tea.
I always knew that deep down The_Scarab had good taste.
I think its coming, but I can't place a finger on which platform I'd prefer.
If Battalion Wars is any indication, a simple RTS can be controlled quite well on the Wii, especially considering how much more talent would be at the helm of such a game.
On the other, DS has probably the best control mechanism for marshalling units possible...

I'm looking forward to EO though it may not be the release of the month.
The January game is Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. HHGotY 2008, only possible unseated by Etrian Odyssey 2, which doesn't even have a NA release date yet.
Zack and Wiki comes out January 31st in Europe, so there's that. You should be happy for us.
My favorite game of the year, I can't say enough good things about it. It sold like dog shit though, so their goes any chance of a sequel or anything similar to it.

I haven't played it either, so I have no idea, but there are a lot of people out there who aren't 18-30 year old male gamers who I have a feeling would enjoy it:

Intelligent Systems is part of Nintendo
Yep. It's not even close.
It would be the game of Winter '08 if not for Brawl.
This winter is pretty damn booked for the Wii/DS though

It made me smile to vaguely remember those characters from high school and piece together what it says.
More Pikmin is always needed. Stop crushing my dreams with moonspeak.
