There's an alternative newspaper here in Seattle called The Stranger, edited by Dan Savage (of The Savage Love) and it's usually a pretty cool paper. They have a bunch of stuff online and they have a blog. They usually stick to politics and bitching about the local public transportation and talking about gay people because 90% of the staff is gay, and then they all sit around and live-blog Project Runway.
But every now and then they decide they should do an article about something nerdy.
I love how critics of the industry can say that not enough kids read comics (which I agree with) but comic book readers get criticized for reading stuff that's "for kids." And then this guy brings up the "not enough kid readers" thing too but then says that the shops should focus on the alternative books, which tend to be even more adult-oriented?
And the "don't bring a girl to the comic book store" bullshit pisses me off too. Aside from the fact that I've never had a bad experience like that, I'm sure that the same people who criticize people for making passes at a girl (awkward as they may be) are the same ones who will tell someone that they should just be confident and try and go for it if they see a girl they like.
