Is it possible to make my laptop into an access point? (SOLVED)
I work at a shop that has a DSL line, run through a pair of routers. (Why 2? I don't know) There is a shop desktop PC that is used for business-related activity and a DVR for our security cameras, both hooked up.
I have the wifi access key stored in my personal laptop, which I use for all my non-business activities.
My GF would like to be able to access the internet from here. I don't feel comfortable asking my boss for the access key, for reasons we needn't get into. My laptop uses XP Pro SP2, hers uses XP Media Center. Both have internal wifi/ethernet cards. Not sure if any other info is needed.
So: Is it possible to somehow utilize my laptop to enable a connection from her laptop to the network, and thus the outgoing DSL? Would I need to have a direct ethernet connection between the two laptops? Some other sort of solution that I haven't thought of?
Option 1: Connect them with a cable, and bridge the connection.
Option 2: Use WirelessKeyView to retrieve the key from your laptop so that it can be used on hers without asking your boss about it.
But is it possible to make a PC into a access point?
I have a network connection that authenticated by 802.1x and I'm looking for a way to get my Nintendo DS/PSP online.
And connectiong through a wifi card I already have would cost less then getting a router which authenticates a 802.1x connection, which I'm not sure exists.
(Anyone know if a PSP can be made to work with a Nintendo USB wifi thing?)
