Please help me find this song

It's really, really famous. I think it has been done by multiple artists. Part of lyrics is "darling daaaarling". It gets played in the movie American Pie, in the scene where this kid is talking to Stiflers mom, right before he's about to have sex with her.

I feel like a dumbass for not knowing this song. It's like an all time classic.

According to ImDB, the song played during that scene is Mrs. Robinson.

I've never heard it, so can't tell you if it ever says "Darling, darling"

This is a better example of that song, if that's what you're looking for.

    the lyrics dont contain "darlin"
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo wo wo).
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray (Hey hey hey, hey hey hey).

    We'd like to know
    A little bit about you
    For our files.
We'd like to help you learn
    To help yourself.
Look around you. All you see
    Are sympathetic eyes.
    Stroll around the grounds
    Until you feel at home.

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo wo wo).
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray (Hey hey hey, hey hey hey).

Hide it in a hiding place
    Where no one ever goes.
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes.
    It's a little secret,
    Just the Robinsons' affair.
Most of all, you've got to hide it
    from the kids.

    Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo wo wo).
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray (Hey hey hey, hey hey hey).

    Sitting on a sofa
    On a Sunday afternoon,
    Going to the candidates' debate,
    Laugh about it,
    Shout about it,
    When you've got to choose,
Every way you look at it, you lose.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo woo woo).
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
"Joltin' Joe has left and gone away" (Hey hey hey, hey hey hey).

Aw shit, looks like I got some scenes from American Pie mixed up.

I actually don't mean mrs robinson, but thanks, that's a class tune as well. I don't mean stand by me either, I thought it might have been that song before but it isn't.

The "darling darling" is different in the song I mean. It sounds even older than stand by me. It sounds like a white guy is singing it for some fucked up and possibly racist reason.

It kinda goes "oh darling, my-hy daaahaaarling", if that makes any sense.

    I appreciate the help!

It's... it's not Clementine, is it?

Ya know, the old folk song "Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my daaaarlinnnnn Clementine"

I don't think I'm right, but just in case I guess.

Yea, soul. Sometimes called blue-eyed soul, which really means white soul.
