That was a jaffa not a goa'uld. And I have no idea what that heavily armored dude is supposed to be. It looks kinda like one of Anubis's super troopers, but not really. And that wouldn't make the slightest bit of sense.

I am saddened to say that I do believe they are trying to pass that off as human.

Well that's slightly forgivable if its something like a different race of humans like the Tollen or something who are much more advanced. The only way it'd make any sense for it to be a Tau'ri is if
the game took place after Unending; which doesn't fly because there's an Asgard right there. Also the devs have stated it'll take place prior to the downfall of the goa'uld. P.S. yes I know the tollen were destroyed by Anubis, it was just an example
So that doesn't work.
They better have a good damn excuse if that's a human.

It'll be Earth born, there will be no excuse :P .
EDIT: Eh, they say "all manner of humans will be at least represented by their history and technology if not by their direct presence" so they'll find someway to weasel out of it.
Bleh, nevermind that every single advanced human race in 10 seasons that weren't mini-nazi's refused to share technology on moral grounds.
Apparently they have to run their story ideas through cooper and team, so thats somewhat comforting. But still.
I can forgive some fiddling with canon to make the game work but as far as I'm concerned if SG-1 never needed all that fancy technology to beat the goa'uld (ori are a different story altogether), then you should be able to make the game without it.
But then you wouldn't attract the "zomg epicz purpz" people.

That's not true. Only the Tollen did that. The Hiribian's (Humans and the ugly aliens who were interbreeding) were totally up for trade and Earth got an Ion Drive in exchange for Stargate information. Likewise, the mini-nazi's that were in the underground bunker were totally up for trade in exchange for heavy water to fuel their bunker's shield, but then the main characters realized they were really mini-nazi's and decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea to hang out with them, seeing how the bunker's shield was the only thing stopping the people they tried to wipe out from destroying them in revenge.
Is it just me or did the last season of SG-1 seem to set up for a MMO?
I mean, even with the system lords dead with the replicators, it stills seems like a good setup in season ten for an MMO, with it is as it is, you wont see the Followers of Origin for a while, but then again, this way you get the option of having them infect the game world slowly before all out conquest begins. I like it but what about the replicators? How will that function?
That was the only race willing to give them advance technology out and out.
Every other race that offered it ended up being shady and they always broke off relations. The bunker people, the dome people, the Ashen and others I can't think of. I suppose they got the memory thingy from the one race who tried to frame Mitchell for murder but that didn't seem to serve a lot of purpose.
Virtually every advanced thing they had by the end of season 10 was a result of backward engineering some goa'uld or ancient crap; with help from the Asgard. There were also the inadvertent upgrades given when a bad guy was trying to take something,
that one goa'uld fixing the hyperdrive on the Promethius; Prior Jackson giving the Dedalius cloaking, etc.
I'm not saying they didn't get anything from anyone. Obviously not. Besides what we say on screen it was implied throughout the show that they made other alliances with unmentioned races by the various SG teams and missions that you were just supposed to assume happened between shows. I'm just saying more often than not when someone offered them some big guns something was gonna end up being fishy and the plans would fall apart.
I'm hoping this game turns out well, as I just finally started watching the show from the beginning. I'd seen quite a few episodes of the show just never watched it in order, but my uncle has all 10 seasons on DVD so I borrowed the first 3 and started watching it this week.
Hmmm well, I can see an explanation for aforementioned Master Chief impersonator - the reason why (most of the time) Earth couldn't get it's hand on awesome super tech was because they were a bunch of soldiers acting on orders and weren't just out scrounging for teh lootz.
Being an mmo implies heaps of "adventurers" and I am sure (if you knew where to look), you would be able to "liberate" advanced tech much more easily than say a squad of marines... and without violating ROE either! Because you have none!

I kinda hope they don't focus too much on the replicators in the game. They were the least exciting enemy IMO for the show. Even when they gave them a face with Fifth and Replicarter, it was just kinda "meh". The whole concept of the Asgard not being able to think dumb enough to defeat them was pretty weak. "Zomg we're so far past bullets our brains can't comprehend creating explosive ordnances again!". Meh.
One of the things I did like about Season 9/10 is it made the "universe" seem bigger than it felt in season 1-8. When you hear about planet after planet falling to the Ori you get a sense of the scope of the Stargate universe. Wheras even with all the system lords previously; an "all out attack" consisted of what, 5, 6 motherships? It just felt small for how many goa'ulds there were supposed to be out there.
I wonder how much into account they're going to take Ark of Truth and Continuum in the MMO. From what I understand some things at the end of Continuum are supposed to alter the "universe" and be permanent. I would have spoilered that but that is literally all that's known atm.

Well I just read the interview on Gspot and the dev said the humans you play are sided with the good guys or bad guys, and they want to take the scope beyond SG-1 so I took that to mean that you likely won't play as a SG member but be a generic human or from some other planet with technology that we have or haven't seen in the show.

Booyah.
New MMO from MGM Interactive and some other bitches.
It's got Stargate.
It's a MMO.
It's a new trailer right here mother fuckers.
Hoorah.
You want an official site link? You've got an official site link.
Go there.
There's... stuff.
Oh yeah.
Your character, however, will never be this cool:
Sorry.
No wait, this was the FPS turned MMO... Dagnabit, I want my FPS.
This is a totally new IP by Cheyenne (who named themselves after the base in this show; which is also real); a MMO from the ground up.

This MMO is old old news.
Old as in development for awhile, new as in firm info is finally being released about it.
Are you trying to be a dick or what?

No, I think he's just pointing out that we've known about the Stargate MMO for awhile now, I don't think he's being a dick.

DDO was a steaming pile of horse shit.
LOTRO, while being way the hell too much like WoW, isn't bad at all if you pretend there's an end-game.

Playable Wraith confirmed?
Thank you Fig-D, I will add it to the OP when I have time.

Seriously, some of us haven't seen all 10 seasons, I'm still on season 7. I haven't even started Atlantis yet.
