An update on developer Prope's website (Yuji Naka's new company) has revealed the company is partially funded by Sega, not interested in 'ports' or 'sequels', currently has 37 employees, with plans to hit 50 soon and is now recruiting for a Wii project.

Yuji Naka, for those not in the know is most famous for programming the first Sonic game, and is the the former head of Sonic Team. He also produced NiGHTS, Burning Rangers and Phantasy Star Online.

Very happy to hear that they are not interested in ports or sequels, let's hope some good games are on the horizon.

Unfortunately, Naka's more of an engine programmer than a game designer, and his thinking otherwise has been reponsible for some of the rubbish going out under the name of Sonic lately.

Well, Naka was called the producer for NiGHTS and Burning Rangers, but only because Hayao Nakayama was called the executive producer instead of the producer. Hayao Nakayama was the producer for the sonic series.

I thought you might pop in to correct me about something, at least I wasn't far off from 100% accurate.

Well, TSR, Xagarath claims that Naka is responsible for most of the recent "Sonic rubbish."

    WHAT SAY YOU

he is. I don't like Yuji Naka very much. He's a stubborn man who made a lot of terrible, terrible ideas that not only deeply hurt sonic team, but sega as a whole. Because he left sega, we got a sequel to NiGHTS. And we'll probably get Sonic in Mario Kart too.

Prope doesn't want to use sega franchises. And I'd doubt that Naka would leave Sonic team and sega to found his own company... to make sequels to sonic team games.

No, this will probably be billy hatcher-esq. Which Naka was also responsible for.
