    Summer? -sob-

I'm so impatient, why did they have to show this off so long ago?

This is one of the reasons I bought a PS3, thankfully since owning one I've found many more.

This is one of those games where I am utterly shocked no one has ever made it already. It is such a simple and fun idea.

Well it really is along the lines of the Incredible Machine, right down to the user created levels. Physics playgrounds have been made before, the only difference being that this one is multiplayer. It also has some parallels with Second Life.

I don't mean to downplay it, it really is quite cool looking, it's just that it's not utterly unique.

Wait a second... public beta this summer?
I thought this was coming out in April?
And before that, I used to believe this was coming out in February!

    That's the whole reason I don't have a PS3 yet!

Well it really is along the lines of the Incredible Machine, right down to the user created levels. Physics playgrounds have been made before, the only difference being that this one is multiplayer. It also has some parallels with Second Life.

Yeah. Also: Gary's Mod. I don't see the big deal about this game. It's really just a physics playground. I enjoyed Gary's Mod for about an hour or two, so I figure I'll spend about that much time on this game when/if it comes out.

But to each their own. :)

Okay. So you have to make your own levels in HL2 using their Source engine. Then you can use Gary's Mod to do the sandbox stuff. So I was mistaken... It's a compilation of HL2 (with it's SDK) and Gary's Mod.

Yeah, they mentioned it in a video I saw. Their wording was something like "The stages we're including should be thought of not as what you should do with your game, but what you can do."

Also urahonky - just in case, I'm not pissed or anything. I'm never too sure how my tone is coming across. I'm just saying I really don't see the connection between this and gary's mod outside of physics and user created content.

EDIT: As for plot, I haven't heard anything about that. But we did get confirmation of enemies, and I thought I remembered seeing something about bosses but I can't find the quote now.

Even then, the stuff their including will be a fraction of what LBP is about. Really, I'm much more excited for user created content.

I've seen thriving fan communities. I've seen what can happen when people love a game and break it into bits and share and make content. And it's fucking glorious. You know there will be groups of people who pop up and put out badass levels. Assuming this game catches on, you know there will be people whos releases you really look forward to. It happens with every big mod community.

    Man I'm pumped for LBP.

I heard it's going to be released first as a downloadble title and then later on bluray with a shit load of user generated maps included.

    I love "I heard" rumours...

Remember StarCraft User made maps.... some were way more fun to play than original campaign maps :)

After watching these, I have this awsome thought for a stage. Asuming you can make survival a goal type think I'm gona make a ssb inspired level.

The first video, where they keep dying over and over and a few of the people keep skipping sections of the levels via checkpoints was the first I've seen of the game that I didn't like. I suppose there will be plenty of levels out there without checkpoints like that, and maybe there will be a life system in the final game (since this was just a demo), but still.

The second video though, where he's making the level in fast motion? Totally fucking awesome.

Reminds me of Contra when 1 player would get ahead of the other, advance the screen, and kill'em.
Name of the game is co-ordination and co-operation. I can see people who are too impatient to wait-up ruining this for others.
