I seem to have picked up some kind of virus on my computer. I let a friend use it and since then its been running extreamly slow. I do have Windows Vista. If I pull up Nveiw while the computer is just sitting at the desk top, I see that the CPU is hovering around 5%, my Memory stays at around 25% but my disk usage isn't dropping below 100% usage. I have run a fully updated copy of AVG as well as Panda, neither are picking up anything and I am really at a loss here.

AVG is now picking up something called the Obfustat.SQD virus, it cant remove it though and all my google attempts are leading to dead ends.

    1. Smack your friend. A lot.
    2. Have you tried running spybot?
    3. Have you tried running ad-aware?
    4. Have you tried a system restore?

I am sorry to bounce this up again but I am getting extreamly frustrated and desperate. I have tried every program I can think of. Nothing is picked up in the scans anymore but something continues to eat up my disk usage when the computer is idle and should be doing nothing.

I would run Hijack this http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

Then take the info it gives you and post it in one of the forums linked on the forums page of the hijack this site and people will be able to take a look and see whats running that should not be.

Edit: damn 16 cores and 8 gigs of ram. Something like that would cut my render times down to nothing! Very nice setup.

Well, I guess praying to Satan won't do much good since you already sold your soul to him for that rig:P

Try booting up into safe mode and running through scans with those programs again. If that fails, then try running Prevx. I'm unaware if the program has an bad reputation, or if it has one at all, but the last time that my brother had a virus on his computer that AVG and Avast didn't get rid of, Prevx worked wonders for him (Anecdotal evidence lol)

Acctully, Satan didnt have the warranty plans I wanted for my rig, I had to go with a lesser known god of credit that had a really good deal going at the time. I just posted on the Hijackthis forum and I am about to try that program. Thank you both so much.
