Teach me to be James Bond (Digital Voice Recorder)

My friend's boyfriend is believed to be cheating on her. She has enlisted the aid of myself and several friends to uncover the truth. We all hang out and eat from time to time and since he's a sore drunk we are hoping to get him to admit it on tape. I am going to buy a digital voice recorder to do such, and would like some recommendations on which one has at least an hour long recording capability and shaped in a non-nondescript manner.

Also, since the recorder will be sitting underneath the table in my hooded sweatshirt could someone also give some advice on how to capture voice ? The place we usually hang out is at a busy cafe.

If she's your friend, wouldn't it be enough for you and your friends to just tell her what he says? She should trust you if she's already distrustful of him.

The only advice I can give you is that this is a really underhanded and dirty idea. Your friend either needs to have a face to face with this guy and get the truth, or leave him. You don't need to run around wired up like a CIA informant, and get this guy drunk. It's just wrong.

This is the stupidest plan I've ever heard. Let's start with why your friend thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her. Or I could just close the thread because your proposal is so juvenile that any advice that helps you make it a reality is by default terrible advice. If you can't handle relationship-shit like a rational adult you shouldn't be having relationships yet.

So those are the options, we start this thread over in a way that allows for good advice to be given, starting with this post, or we close the thread and you don't re-make it.

To top it all off, this could also be illegal, depending on the law where you live. Many states prohibit videotaping or recording someone without their consent.
