XBox 360 Headset always says I'm talking!

So I got a 360 in November, and when I play on Live, it always shows me as currently talking. The only way to make it stop is to unplug my headset and plug it back in, but then as soon as I say something, it stays on constantly again. I have looked everywhere and can't find any help. I've tried a new headset and it did the same thing. Any ideas?

could it be ambient noise in the room, once you start talking, there's just enough noise in the room for the headset to pick up?

I'd try not using the headset while sitting beside a jet engnine, or any other noise makers you may have in your immediate area.

Have you tried in a different controller? I've noticed that when I plug in/unplug my headset, it "blips" that I'm talking on XBL for a split second. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the controller/the port that the headset goes into, it does't quite sit right and so it's always in that "about to connect/disconnect" state.

It could also be that you breathe heavy, I can't count how many people I have played with on COD4 who need some god damn exercise. Try moving the mike away from your mouth and see if that helps.

I had this problem, and it turned out to be that I was sitting right under a ceiling fan. The air coming from it was blowing over the mic and causing it to activate.

Sadly, it took me a while to figure this out.

So I don't think it's ambient noise, as i muted the TV and placed my headset on the floor next to me. The room was completely silent, but it still said I was talking. Guess I'll try getting a new controller.
