I have found that recently I've been indulging a bit too much in the candy when I game, so much so that when I stop playing TF2, I'm quite shaky and my attitude is really weird. Strange huh?
When I talk to people on vent, seems like everyone is always eating. Do you eat when you play video games?
Eating and gaming would seem like a terrible combination to me. Your hands would get filthy and then you would get the keyboard / mouse / controller messy. Wouldn't you also have to pause or not play to make room for the eating? I guess in TF2 I could stuff my face during respawn times..
It depends on the game. If there's a game with a lot of passive reading/watching then I'll eat, otherwise I never have time to actually use my hands for something besides playing the game.
I also limit my food to things that won't grease up my controller or keyboard.
It's a terrible idea, because it's like watching TV while eating: you're bound to eat a lot more than you would if you just sat down and ate. I could easily eat an entire bag of Cheeto's while playing a game without even realizing it.
We used to drink massive quantities of Code Red Mountain dew and for some reason there was always a case of slim jims sitting in my friend's basement. We would go through tons of the stuff during marathon sessions of Empire Earth, Civ 3, Red Alert 2, etc.
I have no idea how I weigh less than 150 pounds.
Nowadays I'm in the same boat as Lord Jezo - I cannot stand the sight of grease shine all over my Xbox controllers and crumbs in my keyboard so I generally do no eat anything while gaming
Usually when my friends and I play Rock Band there'll be a bowl of chips/pretzels and some alcohol to keep me occupied while I sit out a few rounds (there are usually 8-10 of us playing), but otherwise I don't see the point.
Ugh. I'm going to watch this thread due to ill-advised curiosity, though I know that at some point, somebody will post something depressing, repulsive or stomach-churning.

Truth.
If you're going to eat, don't stick the opened bag next to your keyboard. Take a small handful out, put it on a napkin/plate, and eat that. At least then you're controlling the intake.
Sometimes water, but I'm really prone to accidentally kicking it over (on the floor next to me, which seems safer than on the table next to the 360), which is disappointing. Thank god I never bother with juice or anything that would be a pain to clean.
More often than not I have a glass of Coke handy when I'm on the PC. Occasionally a bag of crisps too. Not a big bag, mind. And when console gaming I don't eat or drink, cos I don't like greasy controllers, and my hands are pretty much always occupied.
I work at day and on tuesdays and thursdays i have school until 9 at night, which means i dont get home until 10 most times, on those days, ill eat my dinner while im catching up on news, or reading these here boards, other than that, ill drink when im playing.
I was once playing Heavy Weapon at about 3am with 2 other people online and in my dazed state decided to, for some reason, dump half a bag of sour skittles in my diet coke. Let's just say everyone using their headsets that game got a bit of a surprise, mainly me screaming 'What the fuck?!' as the rest of the drink basically fired out of the can and the other two were shocked thinking I'd just been attacked by someone.
Yeah, don't do that when playing an intense game, it's more than a slight distraction and I had to clean my controller after that.
The only stuff I eat whilst gaming is fruit. A nectarine or a smallish peach can be devoured quite easily in the 11 seconds it takes you to respawn in Team Fortress 2, and the delightful taste stays with you until you get horribly murdered the next time. Apples are also pretty cool, but take a bite away from the computer otherwise you'll get it covered in sticky apple juice. This isn't hard to do, but is worth mentioning.

Already, the thread is veering dangerously close to "depressing". We walk amongst a living, breathing stereotype.
I may come off as a fat slob saying that, but I'm actual rather thin and healthy. I work out regularly, lost more than 30 pounds, and my diet isn't half bad (I'm trying to improve it further by never eating things like pizza, choosing a nice salad instead), but if I'm playing a game and a snack food happens to be nearby, I can finish the entire bag without noticing.
Dietitians will probably tell you to avoid food while watching TV, or surfing the web, or doing something else of that nature (like playing videogames). You ignore how much food you're actually eating, and it's easy to get carried away.
I really only ever eat when I'm gaming if I'm on an extended mission/raid (eve/wow). There are a dozen empty diet root beer cans lined up neatly on my desk, I think it might be time to take them out. When playing console games I never eat while gaming, it distracts me from the job at hand.
If its a non work night devoted to gaming, I pretty much always go through at least a 6er of beer. But i never actually eat while gaming, i like keeping my things clean.
Edit: When raiding on wow my whole guild would drink pretty large amounts, it really started to show as we got towards the end. Maybe some kind of aussie subculture.
It's most probably the OCD talking, but I could never understand why anyone would ever touch food or drink while playing games / using computer / read a book / etc.
Oils, grease, moisture... I always require people to wash their hands before we have gaming nights (if they're using my controllers).

Don't get me wrong, if I eat something in the short gap available to me I'll always wash my hands. Nectarines can be eaten quickly, but you're goddamn stupid if you'll just go straight from eating one to using your gaming system.
N.B.: The last sentence is not aimed at anyone, but a generic comment to anyone who would eat fruit that gets their hands covered in juice and stuff and then not consider washing it off.
I snack way less than I used to but I will eat small meals while playing games. Mass effect is great for this because of the elevator rides. Back when I played WoW I ate a lot and drank a lot of beer and soda during raids, which I now regret as I am slowly losing all that weight.

Yes, thank you. They always look at my like I'm crazy, especially if we've been drinking but they will wash their hands before they touch anything on this side of the room. I know I am not alone now which means I do not have a problem.
I'm all about the veggie platter. Get some dips out chop up some carrots, broccoli, celery yadda yadda. Just pick one up blind and dip. Bottle of water and bam.
I only remember snacking while getting high and playing smash bros. at my friends house, in between deaths I'd grab a few Cheetos. He bought three controllers for the purpose of getting all greasy and ruined.

So I guess that's a no, I don't eat when I game.
I KISS YOU!

In fact, I'm eating saltines right now. Although I'll probably go get a bowl of stew.

That reminds me, I better grab myself something to drink.
I usually don't eat while gaming. If I get thirsty I have water, but I don't want to be even more unhealthy by eating junk.

If it's some big pass-the-controller multiplayer thing, I'll sometimes have food, naturally.

With the game, I mean.

Chips and such grease up my controller.
And when I get really into a GH or Rock Band session I have a water bottle, 'cause I'm that cool.
<+Ravenger> you are talking to me
<@heels> oh god, what am i doing
