Devil May Cry 3 or Prince Of Pesia 2/3?

Can't decide. Looking for a game that isn't too gory and also not too difficult. I loved the first PoP game, but I hear the other two are really repetitive. And I hear DMC 3 is fucking hard. I need opinions. Now.

Go shit in a pool.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is badass, and nearly as good as Sands of Time, and in some ways better.

Yup. The dark Prince and the Speed Kill system owns.

    EDIT: Repetitive?

No no no no no. No.

Well, the second one DOES have a lot of backtracking... But no-one likes that one anyways.

If you go the PoP route, get the third one. As for DMC3, if you get the special edition the difficulty's not so bad. The game is rather bloody, although maybe not as much as God of War

I was about to recommend DMC 3 based solely on a game goodness level, but then you said the thing about difficulty. It's not as bad as you're thinking IF you get the special edition, but it's not exactly a cakewalk. If you're looking for a more casual game, PoP.

Just don't buy 2. 3 covers all the backstory you'll need, and 2 is a waste, a wanton bastardization of a game printed on the unholiest of plastic discs that rapes everything good and holy about Sands of Time. You think I'm kidding. You think "it can't be THAT bad." I'm warning you, Brandon. To Warrior Within, I advise you to follow the advice of your forum tagline.

I love that nobody took my name already. Makes it seem more casual.

I could have sworn the thread title read "Devil May Cry 2". I was gonna be like "Are you fucking nuts?"

Prince of Persia 2 can be skipped. I was so excited about it, pre-ordered it and all. Didn't finish it because they raped the character of the Prince so badly. Plus, I missed the puffy pants. I took a chance and bought Two Thrones when it came out, and while it does have annoyances (and pain in the ass glitches), it's a much better game than two.

Honestly, I'd try to find some way to get PoP3 and DMC3.

Yeah. Problem is I don't have a lot of money now, my mom is having trouble with bills so I can only get so many games right now.

Well how much are POP2 and 3 individually? Seems like you were planning on two games as an alternative to DMC3.

I meant which one should I continue with; 2 or 3? Each of them cost about 19.99. All I have at the moment is 26.50.

DMC3 first. Just because it's tougher and will take longer as a result.

Can I throw a spanner in the works and suggest God Hand?

Edit: or if you haven't played it yet, Shadow of the Colossus.

Well I say, watch this, and if you think that sounds good, get God Hand (it might be a little too hard, but it is very good at training you to be better) if that doesn't sound like your thing, then go for PoP: The Two Thrones.

Oh god. You said you're not looking for a difficult game. But Lewie makes a great point, and that point is that God Hand exists and you haven't played it. Buy God Hand. I'm sure you can find it for ten bucks somewhere, and it's the greatest thing mine eyes have ever beholden.

It looks pretty good. When I told the EB clerk I couldn't decide betweem DMC and PoP, he told me if they ever got God Hand in stock, they'd let me know. I was like, Wtf?

I'm gonna diverge from the crowd here and say get PoP 2 in addition to PoP 3 if you can find them both used (unbelievably easy). The story and attitude for 2 truly is an abomination, but all the game play and platforming that makes the series special is still there, just wrapped in an angsty-Godsmack-wrapped outer crust.

That said, since a few other games have been recommended here, let me throw Okami into the mix. It should be fairly cheap now, it's pretty easy, quite long, and has charm overflowing all over the place.

Already have it, it's amazing. Reminds a bit of Zelda : TP for some reason.

DMC3 is brutal. It will beat your ass into the ground. I haven't played PoP 2 or 3 but I don't need to because I know DMC3 is not the one you want.

God Hand is really what you want, I think. It's hard, but not in the DMC/NG "pound my face into dirt until I click with the game or kill myself out of shame" but in the old-school sidescrolling beat em up way. It's also endearingly over the top, and it reminded me a lot of games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage in terms of style. It's also got some absolutely wonderful comedic bits.

DMC3 is hard, but it's also a far better game than something like, say, God of War in my opinion. Like, if you're looking for a game that'll kick your teeth in and leave you wanting more, DMC3 is it. While it is very difficult, I don't know if I'd classify it as all that gory as its violence is very much rooted in an over the top manner and not at all like Manhunt or other overly graphic games.

Of the PoP games, 2 was an abomination unto God so terrible that forever will its name be whispered to young game developers, destined to inspire nightmares and terrible fever dreams in the good and the right. Because 2 was so awful, I never played 3 though I hear it's better but, in my eyes, there's no redemption after the shitfest that was PoP2.

Someone linked an awesome God Hand video, so I get to link an awesome Devil May Cry 3 video.

Really, though, don't expect to be doing those combos your first time out. This guy has an asinine amount of practice. Getting the special edition won't be quite the cockslap people here mention, however. It's really not that awfully hard.
