Hi guys, my pc just wont boot up after the power is switched on, I could hear the fans going at full speed, CD drive light blinking, HD light blinking... but there is no POST beep. There was nothing on the screen. What could have gone wrong? Is it because of PSU or could it be the mobo? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

(ugh... posted in the worng section, can Mod. please move it? sorry about that)

check all the connections between your internal components, then let us know!

If your shit is powered on it's probably not the PSU. But if you have a spare one handy you should try it out just in case. If there's no beep at that's bad, but there are a few things you can try. Remove and re-seat everything except the CPU. Any cards, the memory, the IDE plugs, everything. Also try removing the battery for a minute and then put it back. If you don't get any results then your board is dead :(

I have nothing useful to contribute (sorry) other than "House MD is the greatest show on Earth"

I am assuming the Lupus comment was in reference to that show. If not.... well, I'm high or something.

Harvest is right, if everything is hooked up good and snug, your mobo might be lost in loops.

Sounds like a mobo issue to me.

No no no. It's Sarcodina or something.

On other news, sounds like your MB is gone.

check the RAM (especially if you recently added anyway), otherwise it could be the motherboard.

Anyway, no complaints here, it is working, but I have to say it's very fucking weird.

    Thanks for everyone who helped.

vacuuming out your rig is a *bad idea* because the vacuum causes static to form around the nozzle.

this can lead to accidental discharge and potential damage to computer parts.

This is why professional places use canned air to blow the dust away (outside).

You're sure it's not Lupus? I mean, it could be Lupus.

It would help to explain the circumstances. Has your pc been working fine and then it just randomly did this? Or was there a thunderstorm and afterwards it won't work? Or is this a new rig build and you haven't been able to turn it on to access the CMOS? Or did you do some upgrade?

    What is the context

edit: oh i see it's working now. whatever.

it does something like that once in a while, but it is usually solved on the second reboot. Today's problem is that, subsequent reboots wouldnt do squat.

sounds like a possible short, could be a bad/leaking/something on the mobo or another part too, do a thoughout inspection of your mobo/ram/video card
