Ok dudes, from what Ive seen around here, a large portion of the people here are in some form of schooling. And I know around here in NC most people have just started their Spring semester. So I figured a thread to discuss, complain, or brag about our new classes would be in order!

As for me, this is my first quarter at the Art Institute of Charlotte for Culinary Arts! I'm loving it so far. I don't think Ive ever woken up and thought "Oh man, I get to go to class today!" I really wish I had made this switch to culinary much sooner. I was in mechanical engineering before, bit of a 180.

Anyway, so far we've made some stocks and all five of the mother sauces, plus a couple extra. I haven't managed to botch anything too badly yet, though I did set my side towel on fire.... but thats beside the point! Next week we get to start making foods rather than parts of food. And that means we get to eat!

I've also got public speaking and a sanitation class. Not as fun, but combined they only total 7hrs a week, where the kitchen lab is 15hrs a week. So it's not so bad, and the sanitation class is probably the most important class I have, that one gets me the ServSafe certification, which Ill need to take any more lab classes, and most employers require it, so yeah.

Well thats enough of me bragging bout my classes, what about you homps? What classes are you taking? Which ones do you hate? Which ones do you love? Which of you are almost done?

    Mechanical engineers and those interested are often more inclined to take interest in arts and music. Not as much of a 180 as you may think.

    there is another school thread, but that has been Defenderized into faggot talks.

    I am enjoying my C++ programming class and my game design class.
    Game Engine Implementation is "okay" I guess.
    Math = suck it.
    Sociology = okay.
    English = okay.

    I graduate from high school this year

    I have not been accepted to any college yet, and I have been rejected from one

    I applied to no safety schools

    I have really high test scores and a mediocre gpa

    I sure do hope I get in somewhere

    I want to either be a film director (hard), writer (not nearly as hard), or some practical application of sociology.

    School was not much fun for me. I really got the feeling that I was just there going through the motions until they gave me a degree and I could get the hell out. I had three professors, though, whose classes I looked forward to every day. I even took an extra 6 credits worth of classes just so I could enroll in one of their Fictional Writing classes, and it was the best experience I had in university. Tons of fun.

    However, most of the rest, especially those courses I wasn't really interested in but I had to take due to degree requirements (*Cough* Psychology and Linguistics *cough*) were somewhat boring for me. Eventually I put Civ 4 on my laptop, sat in the back and just played through the boring parts.

    Surprisingly enough, I got a 3.65 GPA upon graduating so I did something right. Just have no idea what the hell that was.

    Whitman's a great school! I feel like I could have been happy there but I was dead set on east coast schools when I was applying. I visited briefly when my family dropped my brother off. He had an obscene scholarship, but due to his obsession with his first girlfriend he dropped out after two weeks and lived in a friend's basement until he could move in with her and live the glamorous life of a telemarketer. But I'm sure you have more common sense than my brother.

    good luck with college stuff, it's an exciting and stressful time.

    also 4 months holiday is too fucking long
    i just completely switch off and cant be fucked doing anything

    I just transfered into the business school at my university. However I only have one business class at this point, accounting. Other than that I am just taking some core non-business classes, English, theology, calc II, and history. And I get to take a one credit class for "Intro to Piano" which I am really looking forward to.

    The business school here already has a program where every student can get a copy of that day's Wallstreet Journal, so I am half way there. No suit yet.

    I don't really know what I want to do with my education. I was in Arts and Science and despite liking science I have never done exceptionally well in them, at least in High School. As for the arts, I kind of wanted something more concrete and analytical.

    So hopefully business works out. It is a good business school and of course they flaunt the success stories. A family friend of mine graduated from here with a financing degree and is doing real well and seems to be happy. I'm hoping it will all work out.

    Also all this talk of hot Chinese girls only sweetens the deal.

    Woooo community college.

    My parents wouldn't send me out of state and I was in the first class to complete all 4 years at my high school. The high school was so busy with building additions, constant staff rotations, ciriculum changes and other things, that they never told us anything about college or loans or whatnot, so we all got fucked over in the end.

    My parents applied me to one of the best schools in the state, and I got in, but I didn't care because I didn't know what I wanted to do and figured I'd rather waste a year at community college with my friends. Now all my friends are gone and up until this week I've been working full time overnight and going to class during the day which has really been fucking with me.

    Now I've got this semester, summer semester, and fall to go through before I get my Associates in Computer Support (if I don't fail anything). I'm not sure how interested in that I am, so pretty soon I will start thinking about whether I want to continue into a 4 year Information Systems degree or switch to something like political science or whatever.
