Final Fantasy Marathon

Hey guys,

Several friends and I will be attempting to beat Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 within 48 hours. To make it more interesting it will be two teams, one from the US and another from Canada, racing for the fastest clear. We'll be broadcasting a feed of each team live from our website. during the event. We got the idea from the guys at Cameron Banga Dot Com who attempted to beat 4 3D Zelda games in 48 hours. While they may not have succeeded in that goal, their even was still a huge success as they had a large audience and had a lot of fun doing it. Beyond that, they ended up raising over $1,000 which they donated to Child's Play. Like them, we plan to have a pay pal setup for people to make donations to. We will send 100% of those donations straight to Child's Play at the end of the event.

If you're interested in the event at all, feel free to checkout our website. or join our Facebook Group. The even is to being on January 25th at 5:00 P.M. E.S.T. and of course run for 48 hours until January 27th at 5:00 P.M. E.S.T. We're hoping to have a lot of fun and get a lot of support.

-Thanks,
Steve

I'm interested in this one. I think I'll try to watch it, and maybe even donate if I can spare some money.

So is this the cool thing to do now? lol. I mean, there's good intentions to be had... But now it's getting kinda old.

I was thinking the same thing, but I still think it would be a cool thing to watch and since it's for charity there's not really a real downside.

If you don't like it, you don't have to pay attention to it. As long as it's still bringing in money, who cares if it's been done. Besides, it took me 6 months to get halfway through FF VII, if they can do all three in 48 hours I'll be impressed ;)

Oh I know. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. In the last week we've gotten about 3 or 4 of these threads, which is kinda weird. I'm sure there will be more in the next month or so as well.

Damn, another one? This is getting a little out of hand. People aren't going to be as interested if everyone keeps doing these one after another. Especially if you're doing it for charity ie. asking for money. My advice is to wait. You probably won't raise very much money if you try to do it now.

Besides that, finishing those three in 48 hours seems kind of impossible. They're very looooooong games.

This is a discussion forum, not a free advertising service.

As is already becoming plain by the influx of these things we seem to be getting, it would be unreasonably annoying if we allow people to post these sorts of things whenever they want.

So, yeah its nice that it is for charity and all, and it is nice that you are broadcasting interesting material, but the Penny Arcade Forum is not the place to advertise it.
