Torx for opening xbox 360 controller?

I spilled a Watermelon martini all over my xbox 360 controller. I've successfully removed 5 of the 7 "tamper proof" torx screws but the two on the "wings" are giving me trouble. It has come to my attention I may have been using the wrong tool to get out the other five (how they came out, I know not.)
Anyway, I need to order a set of tamper proof torx and I was told that T8 would work. However, T9 worked on the other five. Does anyone know which one is correct or can recommend a set that would prevent me from making multiple purchases.

A set of Torx drivers should come with a range of bits you want but you could get yourself a complete set for pretty cheap. Also did you try checking out the tutorial section at Xbox-Scene? They usually have great tuts for safely taking these things apart.

I'll look more closely but when I look at their site they just seems to act like "Step 1: Open the controller with a T8"
Which didn't really work for me. Reading further I see a bit more info but no one seems to be able to agree on what to use.

Hmm. My only suggestions are to break out the "tamper proof" nub ( i think it's a little numb in the middle ) or just grab a complete set of the proper torx drivers.

Maybe someone else can help you better than I. Good luck.

Yeah, you'll need to dremmel or file the nub in the middle of the screw that stops you from inserting the torx bit.

Yeah, no one else seems to be having the same problems. But I can't expect to be as manly as these guys. I mean, I fucked up the controller with a Watermelon martini of all things. So...I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Anyone know of a good, slim-necked security set that they have used?

when I spilled some rootbeer on my controller I found it was pretty easy to undo the screws with a small flathead screwdriver, just sorta put it into a slot, next to the little nub, and turn.

it won't damage the screws at all. and they should come out/go back in pretty easy

    YES!
    This worked!
I used an eyeglass kit screwdriver to get those last two out.
Actually, one of the security bits broke but then I could use my T9 to get that one out. A little rubbing alcohol later, perfect controller.
    Thank you!

As long as we're on the subject of malfunctioning 360 controllers... My right thumbstick, if left untouched, goes to a position where it registers as up in a lot of games. For example, in Bioshock if I don't touch the controller the view slowly rotates up.

Is there any way to manually adjust the dead zone for the controller? It's not like the stick gets stuck radically up, just enough to screw up some games.

If the 360 controller uses an optical sensor like the N64 one does (or even some mechanical variety) there may be a hair stuck in it or something. Opening it up and hosing the whole shebang out with an air-can might work.

Hmm, I'll try this. It's been doing it since it was new though.
