hoo boy are the markets tanking. one of my older friends wanted to buy a house since prices are pretty okay and he's got a wife, but he can't because a lot of his invested dolla bills are just gone.
and it's all based on the wonderful American tradition of spending money we don't have and borrowing more to make up for it. awesome.
what i realized though is that saving and investing money is more difficult than an engineering exam. who is Roth Ira, and how do i give him my salary so i can get lots more back? what the hell are money market funds? and how do i mine for stocks?
Lieutenant Dan got me invested in some kind of fruit company. So then I got a call from him, saying we don't have to worry about money no more. And I said, that's good! One less thing.
Wiggin this aint the thread to tell us how much you made at Orange Julius
Ha! I don't even work at Orange Julius!
Mainly because I don't even know if there is one around here.
so how much does Jamba Juice pay nowadays?
I know we don't have one of those fucking places around here.
I am currently forced to work at Rite Aid. The store down the street closed, meaning we get all of the employees from that store.
The employees are all a bunch of old ladies who do nothing but bitch. I only spent 15 minutes around them today, waiting to get my check, and I was already prepared to throttle someone.
So basically this job just got even worse, especially since we're now open until 10.
I have a really really bad cold right now. I went to Sam's Club and bought extremely cheap toilet paper over tissue paper. My nose is so fucking raw right now but at least I'll have money to eat this weekend. I am so poor.
Your friends aren't so screwed. The housing market is only going to get worse so they are better off waiting on buying a house anyway.
that's probably true. he's just amused that even though houses are pretty cheap now, some of the cash he was investing so he could use it to buy the house has gone kaput.
The other night I had a dream that I received a superannuation statement in the mail, and it was completely unremarkable. Come on subconscious, surely you can come up with something a bit more exciting while I'm asleep.

Though we may be dragged into a recession soon it's unlikely the rest of the economy will tank as badly as the housing market. I know a couple people that bought houses with in the last year or so. One of them within the last 6 months. They are pretty pissed.
Do you actually want advice, filipino, or are you just fucking around?

Our checking account balance doesn't seem to change.
It's like:
Just deposited a X-mas gift -> about 1600 dollars.
Just bought some furniture and paid some bills -> about 1600 dollars.
Just got paid -> about 1600 dollars.
Just paid rent -> about 1600 dollars.
I think whoever is playing us is using cheat codes now or something.

I have a high-yield savings account with E*Trade that automatically takes about $50 out of my Checking account every week. I have a 401k through my employer that I put a percentage of my paycheck into every week as well.
Hah, fram, mine is something like that too, most of the time. My checking usually floats around $1k throughout the month. The only major 'boosts' it gets are sometimes from my tax refund and my Christmas bonus.

I read this and laughed my ass off because I just listened to Henry Rollins' rant about Rite Aid.
I have no investments. Its all in my savings and checking account. I keep enough in my checking so i can pay rent and all my bills can be charged with direct deposit (car, loans, credit card) and the rest goes to savings. I still suck at saving money, ah well.

Fidelity. They sell them. Buy them by the package or one at a time. You must collect alot to win though.

It is slowly gaining weight though, from all that inactivity. I'm sure that is how banks work. Just like battery hens.
of course, I'm saving to move and that's the whole reason I have a job
so this might not be realistic for everyone

Beer and hookers.
100 a week goes into the "rent" jar
20 a week goes into the "tattoo" jar
the rest goes in the bank to save for whatever.
It's mostly emergency cash. I use my card whenever I'm able.
I read this and laughed my ass off because I just listened to Henry Rollins' rant about Rite Aid.
