Sufjan / Coldplay mashup

So, I noticed that these two songs have basically the same melody and rhythm, so I couldn't help but make a mashup. I thought it turned out really well. Thoughts? Comments?

Sufjan Stevens vs Coldplay - Chicago / Clocks

Also I recently re-did my band's website so comments on site or music would be awesome! (Hm. I say that, but criticism to the music will probably make me go "hmm" and then I'll do nothing about it. We've been together almost five years so it's a bit late to be making changes to the sound.)

Wow. I never would have expected those two songs to mash up. Says a lot about my actual ear for music :|

    That's pretty sweet. Nice job.

EDIT: I saved it and put it in my music folder, hah.

Hmm, did you just add both songs together in an audio editor? I think generally mashups have more of an art to them, cutting out some/all sounds of one song and switching between them. This makes it sound better, and gives a lot of options. With what you have here Coldplay drowns out Sufjan in the verse, and Sufjan drowns out Coldplay in the chorus. It works, but it could be executed better.

[edit]Woah! And halfway through there is way too much noise happening at once. Hrrm, and what you added at the mid-end doesn't really fit with Sufjan that well. It doesn't sound like it's from Clocks either, but I might just be confused. Oh, crap, that was music playing on your band's website. Haha...

[edit] Ah, actually listened to the whole thing, I see that you did change some things. But my point about the verses mashing together oddly still stands.

Ah I thought he was just trying to show the similarities between the two songs.

Yeah, that was kind of on purpose. I like songs where people are singing different lyrics at the same time. (Like, well, Sufjan.) And the mashing involved a bit of work, as Chicago changes tempo a lot (or maybe Clocks does) so I had to keep shifting my elastic time anchors to keep them in time with one another.

Way too much happening it confuses the ears. They do sound like they'd make fan fucking tastic mashup though if done well, but to be honest coldplay's songs are so simple that they go with almost everything :). Maybe go over to the GYBO forums and see what the pro's do, get some advice etc.

Also if people like mashups then visit it too as they have some of the world's best bootleggers posting their tracks there.

Edit: There are some nice bits though, i enjoyed it once i got over the really busy sections. Well done.

This is really sweet. Nicely done!

You should try this with the Twelve Girls Band version of Clocks.
