So, uh, tomorrow, I go back to school. I've got a pretty ridiculous schedule (I go to a technical college, yeah I know, and I didn't want to have to move to different campuses between classes), and I don't drive, so Tuesdays I'll be at school from 8 AM (first class start) to 9:30 PM (last class end.)
I'm going to have about eight hours of downtime in the school each day, and I don't really want to move back and forth because bus rates in Milwaukee are painful (1.75 for two hours on the bus, give or take), so I can't really afford to be moving back and forth (That'd be like seven dollars a day, and I'm only working 20 hours a week at seven dollars an hour!)
Basically: I have a Nintendo DS, so I really need a game that I will get addicted to that has tons of replayability to keep me occupied for hours on end while I wait between classes. I can just hang out in the library, so I can plug that bastard right into the wall and not worry about running out of power.
Other alternatives to playing video games all day would be appreciable. (I'll do a lot of reading, too, but I can't read for six hours straight.)
tl;dr: I need a DS or GBA game that will keep me very, very busy for a very long time over the course of the semester.

In terms of games though I'd suggest Brain Age, specifically the Sudoku part. I've had the game for more than a year and I'm still not finished all the puzzles. That is if you like sudoku of course. Ouendan 1/2 or EBA also eat up a lot of time if you're on the harder difficulties and like beating your head against a wall repeatedly.
reminds me when we got an emulator and the entire n64 library on the school server. good times those were.
anywho, if you've got a DS, become a 100% completion fanatic with things wing LoZ:PH, Tales of, and FF...
hundreds of hours right there!
t - steve-o99 - Phantom Hourglass isn't that long. It took me about a week to beat completely, with all ship parts.
Also: Meteos.

It sells for about $30 but I found it at TRU for $12. This sucker kept me busy during my 3 hour down times at school forever. Know its an oldie but still a very good goodie.
Also, this. I sunk like 120 hours into Diamond.

To add to this, you could also get a PDA/one of the low-cost subnotebooks hitting the market(Eee PC, OLPC XO, CloudBook, etc.) and browse the webbernets and such.
As for games, Geometry Wars Galaxies is always good, as are the Castlevanias, the Megaman ZX series, and so on.
If you've got the hardware for the job(PDA/subnotebook/PSP/ipod/etc.), media in general is always good. Music, podcasts, video podcasts, TV shows, anime, movies, etc.
Needless to say my job has driven me to buy (and complete) more games than any other factor in my life right now.
edit: forgot Metroid Fusion, that was one of the better GBA games.
edit2: also forgot Puzzle Quest
Of course, I may be slightly biased...
All of the games mentioned here are pretty good, and can easily be time black holes. I guess it really depends on what kind of games you like. If it was me, I'd probably go for some of the FF remakes, and the new advance wars.
and I've always wanted a DS so I could play New Super Mario Bros.
Srsly. Nothing impresses the chicks like a man who caught them all.
what the fuck is this, college ethics thread?
he wants a game.

or Geometry Wars!

One game I got pretty addicted to on GBA was Shining Soul 2. It's a little dungeon crawler where you pick a class and beat up a ton of monsters. I mainly played it during downtime too
